Luano
right ive got my onza single speed tensioner but it keeps moving, as i pedal and the chain goes tight it pull the tensioner right up so when theres no pressure on the pedals the chain flaps about. its on an adamant a1 frame the rear sprockets 14t, the chain is a khe collapse chain and the mech hanger is also new so not bent etc.when i set it up i set the tension so their is still abit of play when theres no pressure but so it just starts to pull when their is i made sure the qr was super tight and also the bolt that screws into the mech hanger.the tensioner is here: onza tensionerany body got any ideas? Ether a wrong bolt is being used so it moves up and there is no tension there. Can you change it to run down tension and shorten your chain any more? Maybe if you get some photos to see it EP Cycles Edited April 11, 2007 by EP Cycles
Luano
no im running it with down tension thats the weird thing it shouldnt come loose as when you pedal it the top of the chain that goes tight the bottom goes slack, im using the bolts that are supplied with the tensionerill try and get some pictures if i dont manage to fix it
Grant H
put pressure on the pedals then tighten the tensioner?

Remove the Onza tensioner, lift the back wheel off the flor and then pedal the cranks round. Look at the chain and see if it has any stiff links etc. It might be your chain has a twsit or is worn. You mounting the locking point to the mech hanger? This is what stops it moving up or down and keeps the tension there.EP Cycles
Ben Beckett
is it the one that has a bolt through the mech hanger AND the quickrelease bit?if so then i don't think you can stop it.........all i would say to do is chop the bit that has a bolt for the quickrelease off if you know what i mean?that should now mean that the tensioner is only held on by the mech hanger and not both. this should solve the problem. wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooop

GyTrials
ive got a gusset one which is pretty much the same as this one, even using fun bolts it still moves when pressure goes onto the chain, even with the bolt done up super tight
Grant H
set it up so it goes upwards and cable tie it to your frame
Luano
the chain has no stiff links as it brand new and checked but i have a bigger problem now which is a distinct lack of engagmnent at the rear end
Ash-Kennard
try taking a pair of links out your chain, then tension it pushing upwards, not only should it hold better, there will be more chain around the sprocket and you will be less likely to hit it
SomeoneNew
If you tension it upwards could you not tie wrap it to your chainstay aswell? that way it would never lose tension
Luano
i tried tensioning it upwards and it was a slack as you now what and so i took one link out but then the chain wouldnt go on i also tried using a half link of a shadow but it wouldnt stay on it kept breaking so im either going to have to buy a new half link or do some modifications,i need a new hub first anyway now
