SQuiT-man
Just wondered, has anyone ever tried riding with chalked hands?Does it help if you ever get sweaty hands (but possibly hate wearing gloves, like I do)?Scott
haydon_peter
Yeah this works.Jon Fisher used to take a ball of rock climbing chalk out with him on rides, I also went through a stage of taking talcum powder out with me as an alternative.Or you could just use the classic method of spreading dirt/dust over your hands
Tomm
There's no real reason why climbing chalk wouldn't work. You can also get 'liquid chalk' which is awesome stuff (I prefer it to normal chalk, for climbing at least) which you can get from decathlon and other places for £6 (normal chalk balls are £2 or less). Keeps your hands dryer for longer, and a bottle would last ages (several months at least).
Rumplestiltskin
Wouldn't foam grips be more practical than having to chalk your hands up before/during rides? I get really sweaty hands when I ride (gloveless), and a set of foam grips sorted it out perfectly. They just soak up all the sweat so grip isn't compromised at all. Best upgrade I've made to my bike I reckon.
Si-man
mud/ grit from where your riding does the trick.makes sure its dry like though lol.

Tim-Hill..Yeah Mate
I tried foam grips from halfords, bad choice for me, my hands dislicked them, under each callus i had big blisters and nasty dead skin which nailed when i tried riding, went to rubber grips way prefer them.yeh chalk, dust i use to get my hands dried up, does wax work aswell? coat a layer of wax on your grips see how it goes.Tim
ScotchDave
I'll try this, but I hate the way that after climbing it takes 3 or 4 good washes with soap before all the chalk has come off.

Rumplestiltskin
made my hands hurt less than rubber grips rather than more!Mine too. They were a bit harsher on my hands whilst bedding in, but that wore off pretty quick and now they're fine.
