dozydame
i was wondering if anybody knew how good the ACS welded freewheels are? i'm considering getting one cause there cheap and heard there meant to last. any views?
Greetings
They last if you take care of them.As you can't get at the internals in a welded freewheel, once something brakes down you'll need to get a new one. My mate had an ACS for 2 years and he was quite a powerful rider so they can last. On the other hand, another friend broke his after 1 week.Personally, I'd get something a bit better even though the ACS is very good value. Si-man
I dont get how people kill freewheels so much.We bought a cheap shitter no make because we needed one, thought it would only last a few days, ended up lasting about 6 months...If you look after them and check them regularly through the day for a loose lock ring, then they should last you for years

i run one of those atm (whilst im saving for decent one) but it doesnt seem too bad to be honest, i thought it would be much worse. but if you have got the option i would deffo go for the tensile or simlar freewheels. dozydame
i would get a tensile, but two of me mates have got them and they slip really loud basically everytime you pedal them. thanks for the advice though.
Boswell
Dame save yourself the trouble and get a try all, i have had mine for like 4 months now and i haven't had a single problem with it not even a slip. your also getting much better engagement. Invest in the best. Edited April 10, 2007 by mr ?
tom 20
If your interested in saving a few quid why not just get the normal acs and locktite it up, as that worked on my first front freewheel bike-although the freewheel itself didn't last long . If you can stretch a bit i would suggest buying the Tensile freewheel as they are still fairly cheap for what they are and have a great number of engagements. Hope i helped ..Tom... NileBrownâ„¢
Hi , I've been runnin an ACS welded for some time now and thought it was a big improvement from the ever annoying aspect of most freewheels coming loose. I think its a great freewheel for the price and since having it , it hasn't skipped once. The catchpoints aint bad either so for me its ACS welded ***! However if tartybikes offered a welded version of the tensile freewheel I think that would be a good idea , as thats mainly what lets it down , it comes loose.cheers Nile
