Danny Kearns
Hello all. I was just wondering (Leading up to building up a stock bike). Do you really need a Chris King Cog on a Chris King Classic Rear Hub ?Thanks in advance.Dan.

ilikeriding
surly splined does the job fine, helps to have one with an extra wide base to stop it digging in as it would with any hub really.

James Quigley
If you have an ally drive shell get any cog with a wide base.My mate had one with a narrow base an as it dug in it also shattered the bearings inside, not good.Saying that I have a norrow one on my king (steel driveshell) and it's been fine. Fingers crossed
streetjibs
imo depends on whether or not you have the steel driveshell.... When i had a standard alu one on my king and used just a standard cog it dug in and left indents on the grooves. Then bout 5 or 6 years ago my king got the steel driveshell and im stil using a standard size cog with no indents watsoever. If you just have the alu .... then either use a king cog or one of the other wider based ones. Or imo get a steel driveshell
