Chris King Skippage

Have you cleaned out the original lube in there with WD-40 and put a little bit of finishline in there instead?

If not, that'll be why.

Trials use requireds the mechanism to move more freely than they do originally with the heavier King lube, so by replacing it with lighter fluid such as Finishline Wet XC lube you'll get less skippage. And due to the limited mileage us trials riders do you won't get excessive wear.

Some people even run them dry.

everyone has different opinions etc,

i stopped using mine as when i was in Auz it slipped a good 1/4 of a 360 degree turn!!! put me off them.

Some peoples dont slip at all, some do, clean her out, tighten her up and see how she goes.

do you need the tee bone? tool to get the chris king apart. i have a King and over the last few days its skipped the smallest amount a few times. its not much but i'd rather fix it Asap before it gets worse.

cheers harry

No, you don't need the tool, not for cleaning. Only for removing the drive rings, changing the bearings/hubshell etc. Just pull it apart and spray away.

Pop down to my house if you want mate, and I'll show you what you need to do. :)

But yeah, just needs cleaning out with GT85. It's what I use and like almost all people, never have any problems.

cheers mate- seems to be alot more infrequent thouhg now, may because more grease has seeped from the bearings.

The "screw" on the driveshell which the ring drive rests on needs to be well lubed. If that's dry or just has WD40 on it (which is useless), the hub won't engage properly. I've been running mine on a few drops of Mobil 1 engine oil, hasn't skipped once.

You sure its the hub and not you mech or tensioner thats the problem.

Must be the hub, the tensioner wouldnt cause it to miss a half crank turn, the chains never come off anyway

Is the axel tight? and , nothings cracked inside ?

seems to be fine

no worries now , the problem has been found, the driveshell extra notches in it
