Nitromorse...

Recommended Posts

Hi there peeps,

Well, i think i might change my colour scheme on my on my bike, but i dont want to fork out hundreds of pounds buying new parts... so i was wondering... does nitromorse work on anodized parts?

I.E, zoo! bars, Echo CNC cranks, Echo 2007 rims? oh and i have a chrome stem i want stripped, will it also do this?

Iv heard bad things about acoustic soda, it isnt menna be good for the metal if im correct?

Anyways, its only bars, cranks, rim and stem i want stripped, so it shouldnt be too much of a fuss really...

Oh and maybe hub, not too sure about that, might just spray ontop of the anodised?

No, it won't. Get some Caustic Soda from 'B & Q' and folow the instructions that are on the back of the container for mixing it in water. Then get two rags - one to wipe on the caustic soda and another to wipe it off.

When i did my ronnie rim i concentrated on it a section at a time. Dab on the caustic soda, making sure you cover all of it, leave it for about 5 minutes to work then wipe it off with a dry rag. It should just turn silver (Y) .

It's quite easy just a little bit time consuming but don't rush it :) .

Cheers,

Joe.

if you're going to use caustic soda on handlebars be careful because:

1.it will also very slightly weaken the bars, espscially if you use to much and take off too much metal aswell as the anodising!

2.it will very slightly reduce the diemeter of where the stem clamps the bars and it may eat through the textured part which the stem grips on causing the bars to slip more readily

Once its done though, does anyone use anything to protect the aluminium from going white and losing the finish your originally after?

pollish it with autosol, then when it starts visibly be oxidising pollish it again...repeat this a few times the it seems to retain it's shine better!

i also use a little bit of car wax on my echo frame...i polished it with autosol, it came up really shiny so then i waxed it and if you keep it waxed it stays shiny :D
