charlie >est<
I'm tired of blood leaking from my shins. Think its time to get some shinguards but am not sure what to get? Do any of you guys use them? Will footy ones work? How much should I spend? Personally, I go out with just shorts on and without shin pads. all I wear protection-wise is a helmet .Most people I go out with Like thutley and braintreetrials sometimes wear shin pads.1. I get way too hot.2. I get way too itchy.3. I Look stupid.Theres 3 reasons why I dont wear them,.1 Reason to wear them (this is quite obvious)1. Shin Protection. moto_psycho
Gotta say, it depends really, if you are prone to smashing them and hate it, buy some shin pads, if you think ur a big man or just too good, dont bother!
miss morgan
Wear shin's!!i've always worn them because i've seen some of the lads shins and they're not nice i've got a nice pair of dainese shin&knee pads, real comfy and not too hot because they've got good vents.here's a pic of ali.c's shin in france last year after a pedal incident
Jonny Shoe
Yummmy that looks 'orrible! I always wear shin guards now, just to be on the safe side. I'm not too keen on pain you see.
Tomm
If you've got scabs on your legs and go for a nice long ride in the sun, the scabs somehow magically fix themselves to the insides of the shin pads. Nice.
TrashZen
Guarantied practically every trials rider has scars on their shins, Its just something you get while beginning then it stops happeningAlexxxHa ha... yeah.. it just stops happening when you decide to wear shin guards Years ago, I used to blame sweat and uncomfort for not wearing them (same as helmet really), but since I realised I could ride more and try out more stuff without fear for slippage when wearing both... I just never go out without my shin/knee combo dainese and helmet. I don't think trials is about cumulating scars... (else we would all be sharpening the grips of our pedals and wrap barbed wire in place of bar grips ) ... its' about control... and anyway, there no room for new scars on my shins
MDM20
Matt your a F***ing TOOL. You dont even come out and ride so what are you on about "im tired of leaking from my shins" you probably havent done that for 6years because you dont ride your full of crap. I bet you still havent got any new cranks yet since you broke your last one cos you didnt do the pedals up properly when you first got it. Stop asking all these "How much, What ones, Where from, Can someone do it for me" questions because your not going to get them or even if you do your not gonna come ridding and use them. omgnoseat
SPD pedals and shoes for the win but really, think about how often you hit your shins, if you do it daily, maybe get a pair, otherwise just deal with. "pain is only temporary..."Scars aren'tJust wear shinpads, I can't see a reason not too, there are no disadvantages
Danny Swindlehurst
i would recomend some shin gurads that are >light>not to beefy round your leg>ones that dont make your legs sweeat loads>and ones that are easy to put on/offthere are some of the charteristics i would look for if i was buying some shin gardsdanny... Toni-J
I don't wear shinpads and as a result have had a skin infection twice. First time required antibiotics into the vein everyday for 4 days. This could have been avoided with shinpads. No shinpadz fo lyfe!

bonzojim
WEAR THEM!!I think in the 11 years I've rode trials, I not worn shinpads when riding twice and both times my feet slipped off the peddles going over something easy, and bloody hell did that hurt!! Made me feel sick lol, got some gnarly scares though Have a look through the TSG protection stuff, I've got a set of their shinpads and there mint!Really solid at the front so nothing will get through them!, and the back of them covers your calf area fully so A) Protects the back of your leg from getting scatched up and you dont look silly having various bits of your leg showing haha. You dont get very hot wearing them either, so Bonus!Be a real man, WEAR shinpads!! Scottu little wimp mr wilson lol only jokin i dont wear them myself but it is a good idea to because it bloody hurts when you hit them ! spmcfadden
If it gives you more confidence because feeling more protected then could improve your riding, but if you find them uncomfortable could make your riding worse. If you bang your shins all the time then makes sense to wear them, but if you don't hit them and don't feel you need them then don't wear them!Or just rope your feet to your pedals then you'll never hit your shins on your pedals.. Wrayvon
I remember buying some fox downhill ones (I think that was them). They were huge! Had knee cap protectors and everything! Not easy to ride trials in I found
{larry}
Depend if you are just going out for a chilled ride or want to push your boundaries. I think the latter could warrent using them. Personally i never wear shinnies, have tryed using my 661 DH ones before in the past but are too big and annoing. It does sucks when u do hit your shins but the pain soon goes and its not long before your peddling round again, plus you get some pretty awsome war wounds!Would have thought that the 661 veggie wraps would be ok for trials though. ilikeriding
I never seem to hit my shins + i have virtually no pins in my pedals, i find that if you wear shoes that are sort of 'bedded in' and keep your feet roughly in the center of your pedals its fine, unless your doing crankflips.
