Guest
i was just wondering what is the difference between rotor sizes on disk brakes,on tartybikes they have the avid disc and it is sold in several different sizes, the only difference i see is that they cost a little more for a bigger rotorcan anyone please tell me what rotor size changes whilst braking?posted in nmc because its probably obvious answer thank you for all replies Edited April 4, 2007 by braintreetrials
whostheman_121
I always thought the bigger the rotor, the better braking performance but correct me if I'm wrong. Hope that helped a little Reece
AdamR28
Exactly - larger rotors offer more leverage over smaller rotors... and therefore better braking power
1337 Trials
Bigger= Sharper I think ~matty
Guest
ok cheerz,i thought it might be something to do with leverage. now i know what one to buy when i do buy one
RomanC
As others said. Larger rotor == more torque due to a longer torque arm.Torque = (length of the torque arm) X (Force)In the case of the brake, the torque arm is the rotor itself. Force is the force that the pads from the caliper exert on the rotor.Hence larger rotors result in more power but modulation might suffer.
