Broken Wrist :(

Well couple of week back was pedaling off a wall no bigger than waste height, and as i was going off the wall my chain came of :(; so i get sent over the bars as i landed i had my hands out in front of me as you do naturally do to break the fall. Well may be that wasn't the best idea because as i landed the force of me landing on one of me rists shuved my hand out of its joint and past being dislocated. At the same time breaking my wrist. Got to hospital and was took through and after about an hour they decide to try and put my wrist back, this involved me being high on morpheen and some gas ( quite a weird feeling lol ) and a guy holding my elbow/arm and then a guy yanking on my my wrist trying to push it back in place. With a HOT! nurse saying are you ok lol After more xrays i was told my wrist still wasn't in the correct place. So i had the opp and my wrist sadly look like that atm. Ive got 2 week off college and cant ride :(. Well 2 weeks tomorrow till the wires come out and im scared i believe they just pull them out, it best not hurt. I will probly still be out of action for a month after that. Cant wait till im riding again miss it so much. Bit of a boredom topic just thought id tell you all as ive got nowt else to do as gf is in manchester shopping. And yes ino im pulling a gay face on the pic of me with a cast, but i do have a orange cast so kinda makes up for it some how :Plol

Edit: i had 2 HOT nurses taking me to my ward :Plol

nice mate, don't worry you'll be back to it before you know.

I had 6 or 8 inch's of plastic tubing as a drain inside my knee joint last week. This was just pulled out. It didn't hurt, as when they do it, the wires they use in your wrist are very smooth and just slide nicely.

Strangely, it felt to me like ball pain in my belly, when i get kicked in the balls, but in my knee!

You'll be fine, keep us informed.

Plus side: Looks gory as f**k. Nothing worse than having a painful (or indeed non-painful injury) that no-one can really see, so everyone thinks you're just being a nancy-boy/girl.

When i did it my wrist was like a shikane duno if i spelt that right lol looked kool but had this constant bad all the time, a mate said lets put it back as i just thought it was a dislocated wirst which could be popped back in luckily i tuck time and thought and told him to piss off as i could get a nerve trapped, it was a good job i dent let him seeing as how hard the doctors had to pull. I think if my mate did it i would of passed out because of the pain.

I also had to be staved because i was having an opp and then when i came out of it i dent take to kindly to the anisthestic and had a high temperature but felt really cold and was shivering bad. When i slept i also sweated like a something or other lol

You will of riding longer than a month with out a doubt, probs for like 8 months, I hurt my wrist really really bad, don't know what I done to it but I whee spined on a drop gap and landed on it and it took at least 8 months to fully heal, I was riding on it after about 3 months but it still hurt and was holding me back after about 5 months it came back to normal and now it's just as good as my other wrist, feels stronger to be honest.

It felt like jelly when I first done it, there was no strengh in my wrist for about 5 months I couldn't clench my fist or anything ..

Hope all works out mate ..

It depends what you've done exactly, but bones do heal much quicker than ligaments etc. So a badly sprained wrist will take a lot longer to heal than yours (hopefully).

The wires coming out is really painful apparently. But over quickly :)

You'll be back to your bike in no time, i had an idiot doctor when i broke my hand, he tried to numb my hand before he snapped the fingers back in place. That numbing didn't work properly, so i was in agony. Then he said it'd be fine i was like, yay it was worth the pain! But no :( i had to have them stupid arse wires in mine, just like you have.

Hope you get better soon! I know how it feels, it's aweful. I fell off a stage not long ago round xmas time and my wrist snapped in two, luckily the doc managed to minipulate it without surgery then put a cast on for like 5 weeks, although even now it feels stiff and slightly painful when riding etc. I probably shouldn't have rode with my cast on :P I don't recommend it!

Anyway, sure you'll be fine (Y)

Ive been tolds that it could be end of summer before im riding and wrist is good again, i think i may cry :(

Nah man, doctor says that, its up to you, my wrist felt ok to ride on 2 weeks after i got my cast on, if it feels stable and pain free, start riding, build back up gradually (Y)

Oh, and i found riding an excellent source of physio, didn't have to go back to hospital just rode my bike and my wrist loosened up.

I have found that doctors are extremely careful and give you loooong recovery times, but i have also learned (the hard way) that they are very very often right. I have a lot of problems all over my body that wouldn't be here if i listened to the docs a bit more. Doing things wrong and right often with injuries has also taught me how to feel whats up in my body and understand. Also with every injury i research the anatomy of the area injured and research the injury to understand how it's happened, how it heals, and what i can do to help it along the way. It is amazing how you can be so sure something 'must' work, only to look into it and realise that what you do to help may be the totally wrong way.

Make use of your time off and learn what you have done exactly and how you can help it...

If only they were right when sorting my ankle out, I wouldn't have needed it re-snapping :P useless c**ts!

it seems ankles are the common f**k up, becasue they haven't done mine anygood either. I cannot moan though as i didn't do as they said. I am 99% certain though i have the same problem you have had, with misaligned ligament on the outside lower part of my ankle. They are ok now after much work and strengthening.

Docs on the whole are excellent. They aren't slow through choice, like all government run things, the NHS has a lot of red tape preventing quick treament. (see: police)

Yeah, very true, wish I hadn't rode with my cast on now, I think it deffinately f*cked my wrist up, I mean the ball and socket joint sticks out way more than the other wrist and whenever I try to turn my wrist outwards, it gets to a certain point then hurts. I have just recently broke my collar bone and I'm 4 weeks into it healing, the doc daid just leave it to heal and see how it goes, but I'm worried now because when I compare both shoulders in the mirror, the broken one looks like there's a bit of extra bone and it isn't the same shape as the other non-broken one  Although it doesn't hurt that much so...

I was reading up on it though and apparently, because I broke mine right near the end of the bone, I was lucky to not have to have surgery, so maybe I should have had an opp when I first broke it...

I hate broken bones :(
