paul@rettotrials
After looking in the shed i can not find any sand paper, But lots of wirewool. So do you think this would work just as good.
ManxTrialSpaz
If it's a really light grind, a decent shaped pebble/stone will get the grind off.

CJtrials
After looking in the shed i can not find any sand paper, But lots of wirewool. So do you think this would work just as good.Hi mate, I don't think that wire wool will work for taking a grind off as it doesn't remove metal, you could use it to rmeove the paint from your forks though... If I were you I wouldn't bother removing the paint, I would buy some lighter forks such as Echo Lites, these are about £75 from tartybikes but improve the ride of the bike by miles...Hope I helped CJ.. ogre
wirewool will work for stripping the forks, just be carefull what grade you use (it affects the finish) there not steel there chromoly i can't remember if that'll rust just to be save you want to invest in some laquer to protect them

MrsMonkey
wirewool will work for stripping the forks, just be carefull what grade you use (it affects the finish) there not steel there chromoly i can't remember if that'll rust just to be save you want to invest in some laquer to protect themChromoly is a steel. Depending on the finish you leave on the fork, it shouldn't rust as readily as cheap mild steel will. You may get bits of light surface rust on them if you don't keep em clean. Wire wool will do for finishing the fork off after it's stripped, they will polish up nice but you'll have to spend some time on them. The smoother you get them the less likely rusting is to occur. Cleaning and polishing stuff can be very satisfying but it'll take you ages and there's no point starting if you're gonna do it half-arsed.You could get rid of the grind with some decent sand paper and a sanding block (<this will make it a million times easier). Just keep switching to finer grits the smoother you get. Why do you want to take the grind off? If it's not working you might want to look at your brake set up first. If you start removing it image your brake won't get any better unless you take the rim surface right back smooth and then polish it and keep it squeaky clean.Dani x
paul@rettotrials
Its because i bought some echo pink pads off a friend, and i ran them on a smooth rim and a little tar and it was mint. But he said it would be better with a grind, so i did it and well it was killing the pads so i saved them, and put kool stops back on. And is now poo ,so i want to put echo pinks back on. Up'n'away
The onza forks are steel , it will work but they will start to form rust along the fork blades so id respray them after.Dont do it.. trust me. this is the outcome..literaly 10 mins after i sanded them down they started to react and rust.. I tryed a "Protective Coating Varnish" from B&Q and it just made the forks worst.. Unless you gona do a good spray i wouldnt recomend it..Get a 20" rim here !
