Im not being cockey or wanting to start an arguement but i bet you only like the hopes because thats the only disc you've had, Ive run three different well four if you count a rear one and i can honestly say i don't like hope at all. My cable avid bb7 is a beaut and twice the bite as all of the hydraulic brakes ive rode.

Disc front maggy back. I think this because disc is good and no messing around to get good like grinds etc but its harder to watch the back end so its easyier to clip and bend the rotor on the back.

I've been riding dual disc for almost a year now. Had a 180mm rotor and switched to a 203mm. I think I nudged it only once; otherwise, you don't really hit it at all. Once you set them up (avid BB7 kool stop pads, avid polygon rotors) you don't really dick around with them and you have always consistent performance and works great in the wet.

I personally run Maggie's front and back, and i think they are good. I have never run disc brakes before, so i can not really say what are the best. Otho my friend Matt runs a BB 7 on the front witch i have had a few gos on and it is pretty grippy, and i think i would get one if i had the money, but for the time being my Maggie will do just fine. Thanks Paul.

well i am only 11

Yet, there is younger riders then you, who turned upto trials every week to ride? Regardless of what brake they are using?

I think rim brakes are nice, yet having tried a mate's 160mm avid bb7 on the front, I'm rather desperate to get one :)

I've played with hopes+run a bb7 i prefer the lever feel on hopes which is what he was talking about not the power/bite (unless i misread his post then i'm sorry).

on topic:

prefer a disk on front and rim on back although i want to try a rear disk they look awesome and the power some disks have is stupid =] plus with a disk you have proportionality and the ability to lock up the wheel, with a rim brake unless you've got a smooth rim/ultra light grind you don't really want to go round dragging the brake. but you don't need proportional f+r so it's not realy important. does it matter though?

Just a quickie guy's, My disks squeak when im riding, how can i get rid of the sqeak?

thanks!

Adam.

What disc do you have? BB7s squeak sometimes if there is a gap between the inner pad and the rotor and if you have dirt/oil on the pads.

I use a Hope/Monty disk brake.

You can always clean the rotors with alcohol and cook your pads. 350F in the oven for 20minutes works well. also you can use sand paper to remove the glaze from the pads or just scrub them on dry concrete.
