Greetings Posted March 30, 2007 Report Share Posted March 30, 2007 Don't helicoil it, tap the mounts to M8 and screw in an M8->M5 steel insert (or whatever they're called).It's a great thing, you'll never need to worry about stripping the threads again.You might want to ask Biff about this, I know he had it done to his Python. But make sure you use a stainless steel one and remove the bolt from the mount.Try local garage but chances are they won't go that small.Tyler said he had a helicoil set... James Quigley Posted March 31, 2007 Report Share Posted March 31, 2007 I got that steel insert job in all 4 of my holes (after stripping 2 of them)Now I can just wrench those bad boys up uber tight.I just found a local bloke with a decent workshop in his shed to do it for me (was refered to him by a motorbike mechanic, so try them).
