i rmeber seeing someon cable tied the moutns to frame, does it actually woirk?

Works fine. But make sure you use a stainless steel one and remove the bolt from the mount.

Try local garage but chances are they won't go that small.

Tyler said he had a helicoil set...

Don't helicoil it, tap the mounts to M8 and screw in an M8->M5 steel insert (or whatever they're called).

It's a great thing, you'll never need to worry about stripping the threads again.

You might want to ask Biff about this, I know he had it done to his Python.

Correct me if i'm wrong but isnt that helicoling 'putting a steel insert into the frame'?

helicoiling isnt a fat insert that reduces the size of the thread like 8mm>5mm its just like a replacement thread that is inserted inside the old hoel of the same diameter
