I know this has probs been posted before but.. well im too lazy to search as im in a rush, i do apologise if it has. Well i have onza citrus brake pads and ive used them for about 5 days. I think theyve worn in and ive even sanded them down. I have a very very light grind on my rim, i used a dremil :P but hey. Anyways more to the point, it squeaks like a dying pig. And i mean squeak. I know its a good sound but, its not just when you put strain on the brakes. Its constantly. No mater how you apply the brakes, it makes an aweful sound. All i wanted to know is would a propper grind from tarty fix this, using the same pads or would i need to change the pads too.

Thanks in advance

If the brake works well then it's the sound of a working brake. For example - Plazmatic CRMs make a lovely high pitched squeak noise on a smooth rim when they're working and no noise at all when they aren't (ie. if it's rained within 200 miles of your current location).

If you get a grind the noise will get louder and deeper

From what i've heard, all these pads do is sqeuak. Don't lock too well...

That's just from reading a couple of reviews on them..so I don't know really.

If they sqeuak becuase of the rough surface, the only thing you can do is sand your rim back to smooth, and have a crappy brake..

The noise comes from the contact between the pad and the rim. If you can hear this noise constantly then the pad(s) is/are touching the rim all the time, not a good thing. Ideally you want the rim straightened and trued, a good grind then the brakes set up so you have about 1-2mm between the pad and rim. Alternatively, adjust the calipers so the pads aren't touching, true the rim on the bike, re-adjust the brakes.

I think he means constantly as in everytime he applies the brake, even if he does it slowly/softly as opposed to wuickly and hard.

A grind from tarty will only make the noise louder.

Learn to like the noise, thats the only thing really. Theres no point ruining the braking surface to stop it making a noise, be proud of it, your a trials rider, you do what the general public perceive as almost uncomprehendable, draw attention to yourself and show off your ability to do something amazing.

You'll also find after a while that when the brake doesn't squeak you don't trust it as much. Theres nothing more confidence inspiring than a brake that aggressively salutes its activity below you.
