hi there guys

im thinking of bleeding my maguras again soon

last time i done it, i used the magura oil.

but im woundering what every one else runs in theirs

i have a freind that uses baby oil in them and i have heard some people mention using water in them

so i thought i would ask and see what every uses and if there is any difference between any of them on the performance of the braking.

cheers guys.

use the search next time theres loads of posts about this.

i bled mine earlier and used de-ionized water as it stops the system to rust. best bleed ever. water ***

i have never liked blood. but be sure to clear out your system of blood if you change to water. i just pumped water through over and over till it was pretty much gone. it works fine

Hey,

Don't use water what ever you do, i've heard they damage the seals and other parts of the brake, this = warranty void.

Use magura royal blood or any DOT 4, DOT 5.1/5.2.

Steve

wouldnt dot oil do far more damage than water to the seals???

magura blood is mineral oil and dot will destroy your brake i think??? might be wrong though?

What ever mate,

Youre brake - hope use DOT fluid in thier brakes(MBUK grime time with hope factory - how to shorten youre hose and re -bleed) and hope are a good brake company, so using them in Magura's wouldn't make no difference.

Ok then budd,

Cheers for that, i just thought but if they are two different types of seals i might have to buy some magura royal blood.

Can you buy the bottles/containers at local bike shops or is it order off evans ect.

Like said many people use water and sometimes a mixture of water and anti-freeze. I just bleed mine in the sink. Turned out better than any other brake i've felt.

Also the hosing is clear so i can see the little bits of oil that are still left in there. Kinda cool.

Oh and no problems here.

I run water in mine - have done since the first time i bled them, and I've never had any problems. Add antifreeze if you want, but I haven't noticed a problem in cold weather and I don't use it. With the water in constant motion through constant pulling of the lever whilst riding it'd have to be bloody cold for it to freeze or solidify slightly in the hoses anyway, and if the weather was like that, you probably wouldn't be out riding!
