Token
I was just wondering, as I'm pretty tempted to go an do a 3rd grind to my rim.As I rub the tip of my finger over the rim it feels totally smooth but I can still feel the lacerations with my nail.My brake grips really well when the wheel is travelling forward, but when the wheel rolls backwards (like slipping backwards off a walll) it doesn't hold at all, which is really not good for business. Anyway it's a cheese Echo 06, so no doubt it does need another grind.Does sound like abit of a nobby question but I really can't remember how sharp the grind was when I first did it.How often to grind your rim? What are the tell-tale signs that your grind has died?
Ash-Kennard
after each muddy comp when the grind has worn off.
Walleee
If you've not changed anything since your last grind, yet the brakes performance has deterioated, it's time for a grind.....

Token
Okay, but the brake works immense when the wheel is rolling forward. Why would it be so naff when its rolling backwards?

Token
Ali C joypads. On one side the pad is perfectly flat and on the other its slightly angled. I know it should be dead flat but when It makes contact against the rim the whole pad does make contact with the rim.Could it be the way I've put the grind on? deanie-b
It's all depending on which direction you grind in, I believeee.I remember when I used to grind, that I wouldnt grind in a certain direction, I would just roughen the surface of the rim all over, worked immensely .Have another go, and see if it's shit then
Si-man
Do you grind each side in opposite directions? Like one side clockwise and other anti? That helps.
munkee
I think all this grind technique shite is being thought over way too much. Just get a new cutting disk and go around the rim, press harder to go deeper... lift a little to make shallower. I dont really see how a slight angle in the grind makes any difference.. mine just work no matter how i do them.
