Windows Vista

I'm getting windows vista soon and just wondering if anyone's had any major software compatibility issues? I'm mainly concerned with Macromedia MX 2004 and Photoshop 7.0? Does Vista provide any support for running programs like this? (Like they did in XP with the program compatibility tab when right clicked)

Thanks,

Dave

I've not tried those two particular apps but.. most stuff seems to work, you generally just have a bit of trouble installing.

photoshop 7 won't work on xp x64 if thats any help. CS2 is much less of a fanny than CS1 (this comes from an avid v7 fan), there are fully functional keygens on the web and a demo on the adobe site.

oh, i wouldnt count on anything that uses macrovision Flexlm for its licensing working too well - they haven't got their new stuff sorted (i know, I've been watching people test it)

whats the hurry to get vista?

remember what XP was like when it was first released.........

loads of updates to fix security flaws........

only really started getting good after service pack 1 and now 2.

but if your not too botherd about security then go for it.

isnt it strange how all new PC's come with vista, you can only get XP from dell and HP i think now. just shows how bill controlls the marked

Yeah but thats like saying you can't get a MAc with out OSX on it? I'm not 100% sure on this because i don't look about the Mac market but im pretty sure of it.

Vista is good as it is now. There is a good security system on it. Exactly the same as XP, So when SP1 comes out it will be off and rolling on better then XP's SP2 security edition..

Why would they make a new OS and not include the security features from XP so they can upgrade them with SP1 for vista? Would be a little silly to be fair.

Pc's nowa days are getting better and better and OS's getting more and more demanding. If the pc can run vista..Why not put it on there for future proofing?

Does it install in under 15 minutes like they promised at the start?

I guess it could well do. It ALWAYS depends on the spec of your system to how fast things install.

Alot of the drivers for things are already out and about now on the web and so forth. Its just a case of looking i guess.

But as i said i got the top suite for

free. So why not use it? I can also get Basic, Home premium & buisness aswell as the Ultimate Edition that i use.

All I know is I'm sticking to XP for a while. Til all the programs are able to run on Vista.

Cubase didn't work on my mates one, and that's what my PC's are used for...

One of my music tech teachers has been running Vista since the beta's, so I assume there is a way to make it work, unless he has a second computer with XP on or something.

I really hope Cubase works on Vista, or I'm sticking with XP

Oh i dont miss using cubase everyday. Our music tech class had endless amounts of problems with VST 5.1 then we upgraded to cubase 2 (i think) and not even the teacher could use it lol.

As long as Vista can support and MIDI inputs or Audio inputs it should be fine.

I remember hearing there was audio driver problems with vista?

hey doe's anyone knw if any of the rumours abour vista are true about like it reporting illegal software.

NO lol. What made you think that? How could it? I mean if you download a program free, enter the serial and copy n replace crack files etcetc how is it possible to track down your pc? providing you dont go and register online :P

Also.. I have vista premium and all my programs work fine, had some slight delays installing but that was just minor things that take common sense to get around, photoshop cs2, fireworks 8, flash 8, dreamweaver8, blender 3d all work fine now :)

Like Danny said, just buy it, it is only 75 quid.
