For Sale/wanted Rules

Basically I think you should NOT be allowed to sell items on behalf of other people.

Little did I know, the person that was having his stuff sold by a member was a dodgy con artist. It has been near impossible to contact Michael Harrison and there's nothing to stop him getting his mates to sell stuff for him again!

Or if someone's selling stuff for another person... the member should be responsible for taking payment, and sending the item. This would make it a lot easier to communicate with one person and if anything goes wrong, to place the blame on a single person.

Can a member of Admin seriously look over my ideas?

Thanks,

Stuart

To prove what? You could have something saying "Upon posting an item for sale, you are solely responsible for taking payment and sending of the item/s"

Then it might stop people constantly passing the blame on and never getting anything sorted.

or if people do sell things for other people they give you the persons contact details so that you can speak witht them prior to paying?

something kind of post it up and then step out of the deal if you know what i mean

That probably wouldn't work. What happens when it all goes tits up and the person stops contacting you? I'll tell you what happens... you talk to the member who posted it up and they say "Nothing to do with me mate, speak to him, I just posted it up". Then you're buggered like me.

I think the best thing to do is get a home number.

Then u can just phone it and phone it and phone it untill they get pissed off with you and get something sorted. Even if that guy is not the one selling the item, you can just say your the one i'm dealing with, and keep phoning and phoning and...

It wouldn't be harrasment, because you owed something, plus people wont go threw all that.

Home phone number is the greatest weapon against this kind of stuff.

If this happens then the original poster should be blacklisted. They should not post on behalf of arseholes. If they didn't wern't sure the person WASN'T an arsehole, then they shouldn't have posted anything for them in the first place.

But there is no way of actually monitoring this. Anyone can give fake details out, or details to someone they knows address.

Its all about using your disgression and if you think you can trust a person, buy from them.

If cash is being sent, then the best bet is via bank transfer or paypal, atleast then if the item doesnt arrive you can claim it back/ get the police involved.

..or they find any number in the phone book, and give you that. :ermm:

Yeah the idea is you phone to test it out first. I didn't mention it becuase it was obvious.

I just think you have to be careful who you give your money to. I've posted things up for friends before and even let my mate use my account to sort something out with a seller and i never had any troubles. I wouldn't just do this for any old non-member though, and each time the person i helped was a genuine one.

I don't think its too hard as it is at the minute. Never seen a person post and they have no refs, bigger risk than someone who posts often with loads of good refs. You just have to use your brain and if your taking a chance, ring them up, get the address to send a cheque to and if anything goes tits up you have soemthing to give to the fuzz.

what mark said.

if ever i post up stuff for anybody (a.k.a chris)ill clearly state at the top their contact details (msn as he doesn't really want the whole world to know his phone number) then, you can go from there. hes sound and, if anything went wrong , even though it shouldn't, i would do my very best to sort things out, even though all i'm really doing is saying "hey, my mates selling this, anybody want it?"

i wont post up for anyone i don't trust.

good plan though

matt
