rudirudirudirudirudi
Im just wondering whether it would be a good idea to join the chain without the split link as would probably be stronger. what do you guys do?cheers.
bcourt2005
A few people I know have taken their split link out as they know alot of people who's chains have snapped because of it.I think it all depends how hard you ride You would probably be better off without it if you could spare some length of the chain going{Spudrik}
rudirudirudirudirudi
thats what i thought but it looks like the ends of the little things connecting the links are like squashed at the ends so they dont come out. will it come out at all or slip through? Simpson
i personally dont mind split links... at 1 stage i was running like 5 of them and it was never those pins that snapped upto you really! i dont use too much / any tesion.... so up to you if possible dont use it... if you cba to take a load of time just use the link

Fitting a chain properly only takes 2-3 minutes anyway and most of that is just winding the chain tool.

harmertrials
Well don't take it out all the way! leave it in a little bit!

rudirudirudirudirudi
ok. i partially took out the pin and when i pushed it through another link it became really stiff. the two links that are joined with it wont move. they're stuck some how. help
harmertrials
Right, push the pin back through slightly so its even on both sides, if its still stiff then put a screw driver between the link and jerk it about, put a bit of force into it (prising it open slightly), it should then be loose.
