King Tensioners

Well after a good 4 hours of tweaking i've given up for the moment and wondered if someone could help/had the same probelm??

Basical the whole tensioner is moving up at the axel while riding, i had to play around with the springs too, because it comes with 2. So took one of those off thinking this might be the probelm having to much tension? but still moves. The chain runs pretty nicely (straight chain line) and the "foot"? of the tensioner makes full contact with the chain.

Any ideas

Cheers Harry

Yeah forgot, The wheel is pretty tight :) I have to use lot of strength to close the Qr. Don't really wanna tighten them any more

i had the same problem with mine so instead of puttin the king tensioner on the axel of the wheel i have fitted

the tensioner on the bolt what holds the mec hanger in place works brill for me and never moves atall

Says king in his profile. I've been wondering for a while how thick the tensioner is where it goes over the axle? Can't be much more than 1 or 2mm. I know in something like my Iolo it could make it a bit of a pain, as the stays are really stiff and the hub just slots in perfectly at the moment. Not that it matters for me (horizontals) but for some particularly stiff frames could it not be a bit awquard?

Rightyho... is the steel section on the drive side of the hub still intact? The serrations should be more than enough to keep the tensioner in place - even without serrations they usually are fine.

Also, the QR, might be worth some lube on the cam mechanism. Hope QRs don't offer much tension compared with Shimano, and when dry they really are difficult to get tight.

I would also make sure the inside face of your frame is nice and clean, same with the arm of the tensioner.

All these little tweaks should be enough to keep it in place nicely (Y)

The only other option my mates have found to work is the shake prof washers what come on alot

of halfords mudgaurds work a treat between the hole fitting of the king tensioner and the frame.

Alot of my co riders have done this to there tensioners and works a treat for them

any other ideas? i've tried putting the second spring back also

It could just be the Hope QR's not able to give enough tension? I know of plenty of people who found their wheel slipped with their's, just 'cos the QR isn't great, unfortunately.

so shimano QR's are better?? any suggestions?

for a Chris King Front and Back hubs
