Frame Advice For My Easter Project

Recommended Posts

hey all, im thinking of building up a trials bike over easter. i won this bike on ebay, which has some alright components.

im trying to decide on a new frame which is stable when on the back wheel.

i plan to buy second hand, Im just not sure what to look for.

ive been riding for about 2 years... most of that XC(cannondale F800) and ive recently got a jump bike(DMR sidekick).

Any help would be appreciated

cheers

Charlie

PS anyone know what make/model the frame is on ebay?

Its not an old handsomedog rockhound is it?

Frooty

EDIT-closer inspection says no it aint a rockhound, possibly one of them mass produced frames loads companies sold, was called peashooters/cardhore's/ etc etc

yep 31 quid. not sure how it was so cheap, but im not complaining! havent actually got it yet as the guy im buying it off is really unresponsive.

ive heard good things about d521 rims too.

it may sound like a bargain, but i dont have it yet.

all looks like decent starter kit, and for £31 you got a bargain there! i nearly paid that much for a similar sale just to strip the brakes and bars off it!

anyways, i'd just look at gettin yourself a 22t bashquard for a little more clearance and better gearing. and fit those spare forks that come with it! they're pretty good. look like the old handsome dog rigids. i ran them on my Koxx for sometime and they were pretty good. the sidekicks on there will make the front too high, and also weigh a ton!

as for frames, you can bike up the Base TA26 or Giant Team Trials frames pretty cheap at the moment. and they'd suit the style of componentry better than a UCI style frame

give us a shout when you're eyeing up frames and we'll let you know whether its worth the wonga

best of luck!

cheers for the help.

i saw a koxx level boss (1040 i think) and a echo control online a couple of days ago. Quite liked them both.

Im after a long frame since i rode a mates ashton and liked how it handled.

what do you reckon on those frames?

Well the deal is'nt really going very smoothly, the guy has emailed me once since the auction ended well over a week ago.

Not sure if its a stolen bike, could well be with the sellers dodgy attitude!

If I ever get it ill PM you with some more details if you want.

cheers

I finally got my hands on the bargain bike.

Needs a hell of a lot of work, but im up for a challange!

The front brake works... just.

Back brake needs rebuliding and bleeding.

im planning to get a new length of hose for the rear maggie, and i have only one question (for now..)

How to i connect the hose into the master cylinder? Do i use one of those fables olives? i dont want to take apart the other brake to find out.

The rest of the process i have worked out in my head.

ill post pics of the wreck bike when ive got a sec.

cheers again
