You will need a tool to do it properly, ie getting it in straight, and it doesn't need to be too far down as the bolt that screws into it wont fit...Best bet is to get a shop to fit it, its not exactly a hard job for them.Cheers, Rorz! The Hitcher
Cheers! Il probs take it up my local then, although there the worst bikeshop ive ever been too. Is there anyway of doing it yourself? Or has anyone done it themselves? I dont fancy shelling out money for a tool. Lol.
20inchsuperstar
just poke it in.be very gentle, you dont want it wonky, not too far in either due to the size of said bolt.if it goes tits up, poke it out the bottom and :A) Try again, learning from your mistakesB ) Swear alot because its screwed (should be fine though)C) Take it to a shop admitting defeat.mattmine went in fine in my dirt jumper, just ease it in. Broomer
i found getting a socket which just sits in the steerer nicely and and hitting the end of a socket extension until it is deep enough and sitting straight in the steerer. The Hitcher
Some sound advice, many thanks, i shall give it a go when my forks arrive. using a socket sounds good, can get it straight. My bikes already taken enough swearing trying to build it up, i swear it wants me to fail!(Y)

Fixed Pants™
Once you've poked it in so there's no flange poking out, screw the bolt in with the top cap on it and sit the top cap in the steerer, make sure it's on the lip if you get what i mean and twat the bolt gently, that should get it in nice and straight.
