craigjames
right ive got a 06 magura louise but with a tiny 160mm rotor think the next size up is 180mm can i use any 180mm rotor, are there any you would reccomend and what pads??cheerscraig
nmt_oli
any rotor will do craig, make sure the depth of it is right for the pad though.Fred runs sintered pads on his little mini, and it gives awsome bite. performance drops off badly in the wet though. Some people recomend EBC reds, but i thought as these were for DH they were more suited to modulation, dragging and dealing with heat, not bite. the opposite of sintered, which get hot easily. Std organic should be fairly reasnoble, and a good compromise.
craigjames
i thought as much just wanted to check. on the pad front was using neils on his python yesterday as a comparison and he was using ebc golds and it felt awesome. just need to get a disc and pads now. can anyone reccomend any certain discs over others? Gandalf the Yellow
get anything but the hope floating, you don't need the float, but it does look cool.... that is why i have 1 but they bend easily and makes some funny noises.if you want something more special you can have a look at the aorta ti ones? steve
RobinJI
Got a new trials bike then Craig? Any rotor will work pretty much, just make sure its the wider surface ones like hayes and old hope minis/m4s. I've got an A2Z 180mm rotor and adapter you can have in my for sale/wanted topic, and I think Rich still has his Leeson saw disc rotor and hope adapter. Eather would work. You back in somerset for the holidays?

They're the ones i've found to work the best.
RobinJI
Yeah, that is indeed true. I don't get why hope don't do a sintered pad for the mono trials? Do any other companys? Would be pretty insane.I think Rich was after 20 for the leeson/hope one and I'd want about 15 for the A2Z Craig.

I'd imagine sintered pads in them would just melt them sooner.I'm sure i saw a thread and pics of melted seals.... though for some peculiar reason i have a feeling it was a pete wright experience so who knows what the score is with regards to its legitimacy. nmt_oli
on the pad front was using neils on his python yesterday as a comparison and he was using ebc golds and it felt awesome.yeah, golds are sintered.to those saying organic is crap, ive been running all my disks on std organic pads with no real problems. Krisboats
yeah, golds are sintered.to those saying organic is crap, ive been running all my disks on std organic pads with no real problems.Yeah they may work, but then again so do magura blacks. Yet they're still considered to be one of the worst pads around. Why buy organic when sintered are sooo much better.
liam-pantera
a friend of mine called wez filed hope mini sintered pads and fiited them in his mono trials. In doing this he snapped 2 rotors and a caliper he got them both on guarantee though its amazing power if u wana risk it .
RobinJI
How did he manage to snap 2 rotors and a caliper with break pads? Looking at them it would actualy be really easy to file mini system pads to fit.
liam-pantera
they were ebc pads wich were a differnt compound to the hope pads and it was the power that made them crack and the imense heat .
