onzat-comp
Hi i have just pulled the treads out of my t-comp for the rear maggie and i just wondered if you can get the threads heli-coiled. I have heard about helicoiling before but dont know how it works ,if it will work and who/where can get it done and most importantly how much it will cost.Any help would be appreaciated.thanks Rick. Ash-Kennard
basically helicoiling, is cutting the thread into the mount a size bigger, then inserting a steel insert (helicoil) so it is now the same size as it was before. It is a quick and simple process and any engineering/mechanical area should be able to do it for free/ £5er.I did it straight away to my control mounts as soon as i got it, as it is alot stronger.
