yeah man I want to stick my cock in your wound. (probably where you got a needle) just think your ankle might reatatch while you are waiting for your knee to heal.

Just thought I'd throw this old chestnut in for the craigk of it.

Good to hear you got it done dude, it's been long enough. It's cool to hear that you've got such a positive attitude towards it all too. They say that the attitude of the person who's healing is important in how fast they recover, so hopefully you'll beat their predictions.

Hope it all works out well for you (Y)

Hmmmmmmmm :S

Well I've snapped my ACL and since then I've fallen over 3 times and had the exact same crippling pain, swelling and bruising etc.

I've broken over 10 bones and that pain is by far the worst I've ever felt.

how many bones was that then? 11?

All the best Jon, get well soon! Although I had no idea that you'd buggered your leg, how'd it happen?

That's going to be a meaty scar (Y)

lol cheers, the scars are prety poo to be honest! it's all keyhole rubbish! once i get the dressings off i'll lob a pic up.

I did it by pedalling round the high part of the bowl in rampworx, then dropping onto the middle deck and from the end of that, i did like a bunnyhop gap into the small part but hooked up the tiniest bit. I just dabbed my foot, but whichever way it twisted, it snapped it. Pretty shite, it wasn't even a good crash! technically, i stayed on my bike until the pain then i just kieled off the bike!

that's just unfair - It's always the little ones that kill you.

if it's not a cheeky question you don't want to publicly answer... how have the sponsors reacted to the long recovery time ? (you had madera and profile flow didn't you ? - maybe i'm mixed up)

Allow me to answer this

with bongo its always the ones that kill you, ie. every thing

And I dont spose his sponsors will be arsed due to massive ammount of kiddies that try and neck bongo in rw on a regular basis. He loves it the gummy twat

haha mong you mong!

Steve at Heatsink has been cool. i'd obviously understand if things changed as a sponsor doesn't want t be supporting a rider that can't ride! But up to now it's been cool. I did ride before my op for a couple of months, and i am still keeping my face about and going to all the contests and parks. I've run a few jams in Burnley and rampworx since i did it too, where Profile have put up prizes for me.

Matt coplon, the Profile Team manager has no problems with anything. He is also in charge of the Maderaside of things. They have sent me things since i fell and they're sending me a new protype hub and stem soon, despite me not being able to ride. i'm cool if they bin me as it's understandable, but they just want me to get healthy and carry on from where i was really, no pressure which is how i like it.

Everyone has been awesome, so i just get better and t'll be all good (Y)

That's really good to hear - you could understand Profile maybe being a bit ruthless what with them being a large outfit who've already got a bunch of riders to look after but it's great to see them backing you up.

they are shithot, even to the point of emailing me every week to see how i'm doing! Couldn't really ask for anymore! This year, i wanna save money by getting a fishing sponsor! I should look at Shimano then they can send me reels, rods and pedals haha.

Not quite sure. I had a bone cancer scare when I was 15 and they did loads of tests. Found out I had done 3 ribs, collar bone, shoulder blade, jaw, right shin, both ankles twice and my left wrist. I've never had a cast though because I had no idea they were broken.

My right ankle is completely f**ked too, I've pretty much snapped all the ligaments and pyhsio (simon) said that if I go over on my ankle again I'll probably shatter the joint.

  • 2 months later...

well i thought i'd do an update lol.

I had the op almost 11 weeks ago now. I'm pretty much back to normal as far as getting up in themorning and living an average day.

I still can't ride until 11th January, although i've already set the date for 27th December, the first day rampworx is open after christmas. (I'm gonna get all new pads for crimbo as a celebration!)

I have been in Physio weekly since the op, doing menial exercises for the mostpart, but the last few week's they've stepped it up for me so i can build some good strength and size.

My leg has shrunk so much that it's almost down to the size of a normal mans leg now, while the good leg remains wider than the hoover dam. Which is no good for choosing leathers for my motorbike! Wearing the leathers, the right leg is almost skin tight and the bad leg ccould fit another leg in the spare space!

I can now feel a long groove up my hamstring where they harvested the graft from, which is strange lol. The leg bends to about 100 degree's now ad has a fair degree of stability, but it is really weak, which is where the physio, swimming pool and gym comes in.

I have hyst returned from a meet with my surgeon, who despite being happy with the result and my progress, has given me another 3 weeks off work!!

I was happy to return this monday and was expecting it, so for him to say this is a god send! My boss has had the same op on his knee and so totally understands the situation.

I'll be back to normal riding within the year though, which is the best feeling ever. I have got so used to living without my bike that it's normal now, although i know when i get on the bike and do some riding, it's going to be the best present i could ever get!

195 days to go!

Bongo

PS. i'm a fat f**ker now! but i don't give a toss! it's amazing when you don't care, becasue you keep eating the pizza that you love and know you shouldn't!

Wow, so you're a fat b*****d with one leg bigger than the other. You must be a real hit with the ladies. Just kidding (I'm not really).

At least you're on the mend though, it'll fly by. Just don't do anything stupid on the first day back riding and spanner yourself again :P

Glad you're bearing up ok mate, just keep taking easy (I know you will), and don't fall of your other bike!!

BTW, do you ever go to Rampworx without your bike to catch up with your mates? Thinking about bringing my camera over one evening soon, now that I've got a decent flash. Would feel like a bit of a dick on my own as I don't really no anyone...
