Digi Compact Cameras

Im getting a compact camera, £150ish - its only for holidays and a backup for my Fuji S5600 on trips out in the day/at night.

My shortlist so far:

Canon Powershot A550

Sony CyberShot W55

Olympus FE230

Leaning towards the A550. Any comments/suggestions?

Since you have Fuji, stick with fuji.

I bought one of these, and working in a camera shop you tend to be pretty fussy :P

CLICK

iso 100-3200

580 shot battery life (mine worked for a week straight outta the box)

Face detection

Manual controls

Loads of jazz, its so sweet. (Y)

Thats actually f**king great, Cheers for that! My mate worked in a camera shop for ages but hasnt done so for a while so hes a couple of years behind! I was trying to stray away from Fuji as i've always had FinePix cameras, but for what im after that's spot on.

Dave - what manual controls does the A550 have? I saw there was an M setting but read somewhere else that it only changes white balance and exposure compensation?

Canon. You might find the A640 cheap, which is a good camera.

I nearly got one of those instead of my S5600, on amazon for £200 though at the moment and seems to be the cheapest. Need to keep an eye out for bargains.

I've checked out most that were listed in your 28DL compact thread too but none seem to appeal really.

Fight for the death then > Fuji F31fd Vs A640 (if i can find one on special offer!)
