Smallville
Will a shimano saint disc brake be any good as a front brake on a stock bike?
nmt_oli
Probably be alright. Never used one, but shoudl be a good balance of weight and power. I have a feeling the rotors only come in centre lock though, so you would have to fork out for another rotor. They may have chaged that though. Dan Jones
I don't think so you would need the 203mm but even then it might not have enough power. They modulate really well but I don't think they grab that well.I have only tried a 160mm on a stock bike.If you do get to try out a 203mm I would be interested to see how well it works for trials. The brake it self though seems very well made.
RobinJI
While the newer style shimano breaks are lovely for off roading, there really shite at locking up compared to most. Also the rotor as mentioned is a centerlock one, so its either shimano hub, or new rotor. If you want a shimano break you'd be best off going for the deore M525. There surprisingly nice for the money, and a lot grabbier than the newer style smaller pistoned breaks.Or theres always the mono trials on ebay for 60 quid. joe b
Yeah, much the same as most disc brakes, they aren't made with trials in mind; they would have too much modulation and not enough power . I would say just go for an Avid BB7 - you wouldn't go wrong with that - or, maybe, even a Hope Mono Trial?Cheers,Joe.
