The Most Troublesome Frame Ever - Conquered!

Greetings

Recommended Posts

After having countless problems with this frame and almost going through a nervous brakedown, here it is!

Currently having to run 158mm cranks which are actually quite nice with a 18:17 gear ratio. Also really impressed with how incredibly stiff the Heatsink booster is - without it I could pull the lever right to the bars  There were also other more serious problems but I won't mention them.

It rides really nicely but the stem is a bit wrong for such a long wheelbase. Going to get a shorter and lower one soon.

Oh and with this bike running, I can finally get down to my 20" A1 project :D :D :D

If it is one of those new noise frames (however it's spelt) it's basically the first version of the KOT that doesn't have a braise on the drive side.

The newer version KOT (MS2) has one on each side.

Spode frame kept snapping and now mine got a crack too and only had it since December.

You'll need to beef it up a bit to stop it snapping in half on the seat and chain stays.

I'll get Spode to post up some pics of the plate he had welded on.

Going back to my Adamant now. This frame has no stiffness at all, the wheel just moves between one pad and the other making it impossible to ride.

How the hell can you make such a utterly SHIT frame....

Well, cheers for the comments people! And yeah Steve, it is very cheap, got it for 100 quid. Not worth the money though.

oh well, might as well post some pics of my ad then :) nice bit of natural in my garden

it's amazing how responsive and stiff this frame is comparing to that noize bullshit. I wonder if the KOTs are just as bad?

Nah they're not. The '06 model is stiffer than the '05, plus it has the extra plate on the drive-side so it's stronger too. Had my current '06 frame almost a year now and still going strong. Even outlived my Smart Guys!

Looks really nice when you can't see the rear hub - that just looks a bit too out of place, especially with the bright green rim's. If the rim's were black then the stealth look would really complement the red hub.

Sorry just my opinion... :ermm:

Really good job on the paintwork, though (Y) !

Cheers,

Joe.

I totally agree!

It's pink btw. I was drunk when I ordered it.
