Andy Kay
Hey, I saw this petition on the official government website and it is to abolish tax on bikes, bike parts and accessories at the time I am writing this around 5000 people have already signed this. Please sign this peeps as it would be great. Ithink it could happen because the government have already introduced a similar scheme to this one as it is to getting more people commuting on bikes.http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/NoVATonBikes/CHEERS

eskimo
I can't see it happening. Just seems to unlikely. But to be honest i don't mind the current prices.
TomR
I don't see why they won't subsidise VAT on sports and exercise equipment, they've dropped nicotine patch VAT down to 5% in the latest budget.
RR_Trials
They already don't charge VAT for helmets.

craigjames
they want to lower congestion, pollution and obesity; making it cheaper for people to do something that will aid those things is great. it makes sense

Shaun H
It won't happen. People aren't more likely to buy a bike to go to work on just because they're 17.5% cheaper, they'd still rather go around in their dirty great big cars. The people who will appreciate the price drop will be the people who already want to commute and probably already have a bike they use. It won't go through.Would be nice though.
