Krisboats
I'm trying at the minute too. The general thing people keep telling me is go as fast i can really, much faster than a tap. I've also been told to try and suck the back wheel up as soon as it hits the wall.I personally am finding the whole battering my foot on the wall on the way up the hardest bit. I dont like landing at an angle but my feet are big and i have a low bb frame
Ghetto Rider
Hey,Find a nice height wall thats about 1ft - 2ft higher than what you can pedel hop to back wheel. Find a pallet and learn up against the side of the wall at an angle. The trick is to put your front wheel on of top and hit back on the side also making contact with the wall at the the same time. When you hit it at the same time with a bit of speed all your weight should be over the front. Then it's sort of like the front to back switch technique and hey presto!hope that helps Dan
Greetings
Really doubt you can learn a hook on something at an angle. The whole issue with a hook is that the rear wheel has no grip at all and all the force goes on the front wheel. It's really easy to hook something that's close to vertical, but hooking a vertical wall is completely different.Only managed to hook to rear wheel 2 times in my life so I can't give any proper advice. One thing I noticed was that if you fall down onto the object with your front wheel, you will flex the forks and that'll shoot you upwards. The other way is to smash your front wheel into the object just above the edge which also helps a lot as it flexes the forks and gives you bounce from the tyre. It also resolves the problem of your feet getting in the way.Speed is important but you don't need it. The most important thing is to keep the flow of the movement. manuel
try this instead of a sloped pallet. puts you in the correct position for a hook but stops you raping your forks to bits as you learn. then as you get faster at the switching part start to remove the bottom step. importantance is to get your body weight right forward. Ghetto Rider
I found it easier to learn with a sloped pallet, then take it away when you've done it a few times... I can hook flat surfaces so i musn't have learnt wrong if i can do it....
