RR_Trials
Trying to edit a video on my dad mac, and it doesn't have the codec to play the xvid movie files, so i went to get the codec and it told me that i need to 1st download quicktime and a Divx codec, i downloaded the Divx codec but did not need to download quicktimes as that already came with the mac.The .sit file contains a QuickTime component, which delegates the playback of XviD videos to the DivX codec installed on your system. To install the XviD delegate component on Mac OS X, put the XVIDDelegate.component file in the /Library/QuickTime folder and then reboot. If you're using Mac OS 8/9, put the XVIDDelegatePPC file in the QuickTime Extensions folder in the Macintosh System's Extension folder and then reboot. So i went to Library and looked for /quicktime, this did not exists, so i thought maybe because it came with it, it would not have the folder so i downloaded quicktime from apple and it still did not give me a folder. No /quicktime folder = Me not being able to watch or edit xvid files. Please could someone with a bit of mac knowledge get me out of this annoying mess. JonMack
Are you checking the right Library folder? If you go Harddrive>Library>QuickTime you should put the file in there, if that folder doesnt exist, then just make the new folder called QuickTime and put it in there. However I wouldnt advise installing seperate codecs, I would just install thishttp://www.perian.org/ Edited March 18, 2007 by MonsterJ

JonMack
Yeah should be able to.Basically I'm pretty sure you just download it, and it automatically installs the extention for you. That's what it did for me.
