TomR
I've searched but only found one thread along the right lines which came ot no conclusion.I've got an ashton, and a shortish and low echo stem (no idea what size, 100mm x 0 deg?) which makes it a total ass to pop manuals and isnt great on the back wheel. I suck on the back wheel as it is due to my awful stretched arm technique, which i'm trying to change. Also the one spacer thats on there is as much as it can go due to the steerer size.So advice on stems? My knowledge is pretty oldskool (as in an azonic shorty and some DW risers...) so i need some educating on what to get! - preferably £35ish (so no thompsons!) or if you've got anything second hand on offer i'd consider that too.edit: this is how short/low it is:Ta very much.Tom. Janson
second hand thomson? they really are the most brilliant stems out there.shop around in local shops maybe, i know people and have myself used noname stems for ages, no problems.go try some cheap ones around 'til you find something you like and then save up for an expensive one. it's how i did. TomR
90 seems a bit short by todays standards doesnt it? I was thinking a 110 or something?

Dan Jones
How about trying the Pazzaz stem in 120mm x 17°, http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/product.php?id=127 but it's not in stock at the moment.

AdamR28
How about trying the Pazzaz stem in 120mm x 17°I also reckon that would make a positive change to how the bike rides - slightly higher at the front to make it easier to lit the front end, and a little longer to give you more room on the back wheel... The Pazzaz stem will be out of stock for a few months unfortunately, but the Simtra Re'Sy'Stem is another 31.8mm clamp stem with excellent geometry, worth a look CheersAds
TomR
Cheers chaps, I'm trying my Onza stem out for a bit as thes a little higher and longer, may also play with using my Easton bars but not so sure about them really.Ad, I did spot that actually, pretty smart looking stem but never really heard anything about them. I'll check it out if the Onza's no improvement (which i'm assuming it won't be!) Cheers all.
Matthew_Gibson
How about trying the Pazzaz stem in 120mm x 17°, http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/product.php?id=127 but it's not in stock at the moment.I have one of them and Its a really good stem, But its got a quite tall clamp stack height (50mm) though Edited March 20, 2007 by Matt Gibson
TomR
The onzas 50mm aint it? I fitted the onza last night and due to the stack height and needing to remove the spacer is gained or lost nothing. Looks like £35's coming our way tarty!
