Greetings
That's the one.Wondering if it's any good for trials, it's only got 2 bearings instead of the usual 4 that GigaPipe bb's have. Also, the axle looks fairly "shallow" if you know what I mean, meaning you might not be able to tighten your cranks properly. It does however come in 136 and 148mm form which is why I'd like to get one. Wondering if any of you have used this bb or come across it, maybe some of you freeriders have them in your full sus bikes? Also, will I be able to mount it with a normal XTR bb tool?Thanks... Shaun H
They're supposedly VERY strong and VERY stiff. However they only work with Howitzer cranks, they're not ISIS spline unfortunately...It looks like it uses the new Shimano Hollowtech II tool not the old school XTR
Dan Jones
If you do decide to go down that route, it might be worth checking chain ring and crank clearance by your brake cylinders.I know with the Shimano Saint cranks the chain ring sits over the bearings and wouldn't work with all trials frames. Also the brake cylinder clearance is a problem with wider rims.
Greetings
Nah, I'd be using Tensile UCI cranks but by the looks of things I can't. That's really strange, what's the difference between isis and the spline used in this bb?Thanks for pointing that out.

They're thicker I think, same number of splines just obviously ISIS cranks won't fit.
Greetings
Yeah, you're right Side by side comparison, from the truvativ web:Dammit!EDIT:Can I get a 135 or wider ISIS bb? Edited March 17, 2007 by Inur
RobinJI
FSA Platinum Pro DH ISISTheres a 83 by 133 one, so that and some spacers would be longer, but obviously no good for FFW.Can't really see alot else.
trials_pimp
Dont know the specifics, but I have a really long Echo BB in my GU.Sure someone will know what it is
Greetings
Yep, the echo is 128 which is ok for my current setup but it takes ages to set the brake up so the cranks don't hit it.And that FSA you posted Robin would be great but I can see little thread will actually be in the frame Can't believe nobody makes 68/73 mm bb's in 135mm width
Gandalf the Yellow
Can't believe nobody makes 68/73 mm bb's in 135mm width probably due to lack of demand really, there still isn't a lot of bikes out there that needs massive rear brake/chainstay clearance.and its probably too flexy (or too much stress on traditional small ISIS bearings from extra leverage) to have such long axle on a 68/73mm bb shell...maybe sometime soon deng will make a longer spindle for his external bb. the extra length will need them extra big bearings!steve
RobinJI
Yeah, I know its not great, but the spacers would only be 7.5mm, and theres normaly a good 25mm of thread on a BB, so it'd still leave easily 12.5mm of thread, which isn't terible I guess.
