Ash-Kennard
mate, your trying to act like a fooking moderator, or the spelling bee or summit... whats the point? slating someone, over 1 stoopid word!! Your complaining that it pisses people off over a few little spelling misstakes... personally, i dont know 1 person that gets pissed off over someone spelling, "their" as "thiere"... But, i do get pissed off, when, someone like yourself, trys to act mint and slate him for it... So why bother?i advise you read his post again. quick_spider
Just another quick note to help you out... I don't validate anyone who doesn't know that a sentence starts with a capital letter and ends with a full stop. Maybe I'm old fashioned like that, but that's how I am

Maybe I'm old fashioned like that, but that's how I am As old fashioned as it may be its common sense.People in NMC should be trying to get themselves validated, and if they can't use common sense or basic grammar/spelling then they don't deserve to be validated.TF does not need to change, its the New Members that need to changeFrooty
Krisboats
Some names have a certain stigma attached to them for trouble they may have caused when they first signed up. If you think your posts are good and you've been here a while, try signing up under a new name to see if you get validated.Jon I thought having multiple accounts was frowned upon? I think it works fine really. Everyone I know who's sound in real life and has signed up has in time been validated. I suffer from dyslexia, but its still no excuse to spell badly all the time. Its "spell bad all the time". Theres a whole thing about it in the film kiss kiss bang bang about it being some sort of proverbial pro-noun that contradicts itself or something Theres nothing wrong with the validation system at the minute, the only thing wrong are the idiot new members. Just be HELPFUL to each other, dont make new topics with a question one or two lines long asking what everyone thinks or does about something... its not original, not helpful, and doesn't improve the chance of you getting validated. Boswell
I think the only way it can change is with dedicated people validating people. Not moderators, nor admins, just a team of validators who trawl NMC for the good poster. They also don't have the power to de-validated, as that comes down to a moderator or admin.Thats the only possible change i can see helping. This change has also already been discussed. Tom is moving or something, and Danny is work busy, but when Tom gets back theres a few new things that may help being rolled out, so maybe a validation team will be one of them.Thats a great idea. Member and moderators with a great history of spelling could do it. (that if they would mind giving up some of their free time of course) Edited March 17, 2007 by mr ? quick_spider
I thought having multiple accounts was frowned upon?Having multiple active accounts is frowned on, as people tend to have conversations with themselves. Ditching and old account is normally fine, although you do get the odd person trying to sign up after being banned (Has anyone heard from Petey recently?)Jon

plainlazy84
I think Simon hit the nail on the head. The forum doesnt need to change, but it could do with more people able to validate new members. Theres only 6 mods and 2 admin on what is a pretty large forum. We have lives outside of the forum and its just not possible to sit around all day validating- there is also the small matter of moderating the rest of this place! There are good new members that are worthy of being made a full member that unfortunately slip through the net and it takes longer than it should do. However there are many more new members that just post lots of crap, make no effort with their spelling and grammar and dont bother to read and understand the guidelines. I'm sorry but I'd have to say that there is more of the second type and this makes it even harder for us to pick out the good ones.if you haven't already then read this thread and take notice! Ditching and old account is normally fine, although you do get the odd person trying to sign up after being banned (Has anyone heard from Petey recently?)JonI got told off by him for following him all over the internet and bad mouthing him in the bike pics thread on the OCUK forum after i couldn't help but notice one of his bullshit posts. Apparantly he's sponsored by hope, and is a proffesional rider. He's also sponsored by freshproducts and isn't happy because his "prototype" (not a frame made by todge to petes specifications, ordinarily being known as a custom order rather than sponsorship) frame broke and he expected todge to build him a new one.He also mentioned that he broke his leg because his maggie slave broke after he dropped off an 11 foot drop, kept it to back wheel, manualled to the edge of the next roof/large object (i think he said that one was 12 foot) and then dropped off that, at which point his maggie cracked and thats why he broke his leg. Component failure rather than rider error.Other than that, not heard a peep. New members has been a fair bit quiter though, which is nice. Adam-Griffin
i personally reckon the forums fine it works perfect and theres noneed to change it apart from maybe some of the stupidity and bitchiness that goes on when a member makes a silly pos or duplicates a previous one unknowingly but thats my opinion lolAdam
t.w
hmmm i agree with mr ? this is becuase i have been on this part of the forum (NMC) waiting for a decent topic to arise, i am not saying there is a lack of decent topics in the NMC but it would be nice not to see things like "whats the funniest thing you found in your tyre". But when i look in the members area i can see so many topics that i could contribute to. I just think that somtimes things should be given a push forward. But there are alot of people out there that are decent posters.I know this personally because i've had two or three people come up to me and say they haven't been validated, when looking at their posts they clearly should be, 'reported' both of them and they both got validated. And these are two riders i actually know, there's probably hundres out there in the same situation, and even more that have just given up on TF altogether becuase becuase they just can't get validated. Class Clown
It seems to me that lately the number of new members in nmc is greatly increasing but the number of people being validated is not. As the sport of trials biking becomes more popular more people are going to join this forum and put strain on the system. Will the forum have to change?no people need to post better things though and then the validation would be a lot quicker...but we are here to help so any posts should be answeredcheers Pimp
