Bigman
Here is my spring steel tensioner, it clamps between the hub and frame meaning that it can easliy have the tension adjusted (just by pushing it down and tightening quick release/bolt) it can be hit when missing a sidehop for example and not be damaged. Some like this have been made with a nylon slider instead of the jockey wheel, but i chose the wheel as i hoped it would give quieter running. I got the spring steel from one of those flexible wood saws Pic:Adam
GyTrials
looks like a better version of the 74 kingz one lolwhat wood saw did you mean? all the ones i have seem to flexiblecheersSteve
Bionic Balls
i was inspired by bigman...you can just about see it in this pic:instead of the jockey wheel, i glued on a piece of plastic that i softened over a gas cooker into shape. Instead of being one saw blade..it is ~4 hacksaw blades taped together...still..it is usually surprisingly quiet...and of course you can sidehop to it all you like!adam
Greetings
My mate made one using a v-brake spring, worked well Edit: dude above me, is that a Mielec? Edited March 15, 2007 by Inur

The first one snapped. But then Martin's 74 Kingz snapped. I'd say it's better constructed and costs a hell of a lot less!
Bill_B
If your going to use a piece of plastic for the chain to run over and not a wheel, try and get some PTFE from a plastics supplier, its very low friction and should work well. you may even find you can use it for the springy bit too. Usually available in black and white.
Bionic Balls
there is one essential flaw with your theory.glueing ptfe is very hard! nylon would be ideal...but it doesn't rub much anyway- it's only a guide side to side (mine is an old coat hanger)adamEdit: tis not a mielec...i wish! tis the original telephone bike. Bill_B
I can think of ways to do this without having to Glue the PTFE (lots of mechanical options to fix it in place). Might have a play when I get my bike built in a couple of weeks. If I come up with a stroke of genius I'll post it here
