spmcfadden
I’ve been using Planet X ones for years, only £10 from chainreaction now! They wrap around and fasten tight with velcro so aren’t loose and flappy. As they go all round you get the backs of your legs protected too. Having knee protection as well would good but it reduces your flexibility a bit and they aren’t as comfortable I’ve found.Definitely get some as you can really stuff your shins up!http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=11216
t.w
PADS! these are great guys they are flexy and dont giet the way, the problem i had with other pads is that they didnt feel tight around my legs but these are good hope i have helped
rudirudirudirudirudi
i use the 661 pads. there good but the bottom velcro fastening doesnt fit unless u have annorexic ankles. doesnt really get in the way though. there quite expensive at £30 but have saved my shins more than a few times! Phil H
Not necersarry in my opinion. Your shin looks bad but not tooo bad. They are abit hassley and just extra money that could be spent on parts Football shin pads can do the job too. (obviously not if your wearing shorts - look like a gimp)Having said that I did wear hench 661 pads for 2 days after I did this:I shinned myself bad but thought I may aswell keep riding, then did the other!Phil
spmcfadden
I use the 661 race knee and shin for downhill and they fit me well (I must have anorexic ankles!), but wouldn't want to use them for trials as it isn't as flexible as just shin pads. If you can't move your knees as freely then you're more likely to fall off and need the knee pads..
um....tasty
I use the 661 veggie's there really flexible and light weight. I got mine from halfords and they were under £30. Also I always hit my knees on my stem so I wear vollyball knee pads, sounds silly but work really well and very flexible their Rucanor ones. Guest
i use ordinary football shin pads. they protect your ankles and the lower half of your leg. the only bad point is if you hit your knee but if you have ordinary shin pads i suggest you where them till you get some proper ones. they dont get in the way at all, you wont even notice they are there.
