NVWOCI WVS
i know you get some pretty tough rim and tyre combinations and stuff, but my rear revell rim with a dual ply 2.5inch super tacky maxxis high roller just doesnt go on, i've been trying for an hour and a half and i snapped three tyre levers im sure this is an impossible combination but does anyone have any suggestions?cheerssam
Ash-Kennard
metal tyre levers, same for all maxxis tyres on wide rims
dave85
I presume you've got one wall of the tyre on. Get the first bit of the second wall on, and properly into the well of the rim (dead central), then work round with your hands getting more of the wall in and making sure that's in the centre too. If you still need them, use some levers to get the last bit in.
Waddy
they are buggers to get on, but 2 big screwdrivers always do the trick!
Nick Garland
I can get my maxxis 2.5 off without using anything, just using my hands and an echo 07 rim, doesnt seem normal now everyone says that its meant to be hard.
T-Limburn
yeah go for some metal tyre levers, should do the trick.its defiantely not an impossible combo as revell rims are just koxx rims with hex holes and eyelets, and you can always get the tyres on with a bit of brute strength
Ghetto Rider
Stretch the tire - put it over your foot and pull very hard. Use metal tyre levers too!
Prawny Baby
i think its about how the rest of the tyre is sitting on the bead, nobody ever seems to think about it at all!if the rest of the tyre is sitting diagonally across the rim, then itll be at its tightest, make sure what tyre is on so far is sitting squarley on the rim and itll loosen up some.personally, im yet to come across a tryre/rim combo that i cant remove or refit by hand, apart from when miniman had a BRAND NEW maxxis on a koxx rim, although even that came off with the use of a single tyre lever....normally, i can get any maxxis or michelin tyre on or off any rim by hand, i find its all about how the rest of the tyre is sitting in the rim.if your snapping tyre levers, your not using them properlyonce theyre hooked over the rim, as you lever up, slide the tyre onto the lever as it goes up more, so theres less chance of it snapping! AdamR28
that prawn, is because you use a good technique...:wink2: Like Edd and Nick have said, you need to get the bead of the tyre into the lowest part of the rim - you can get any tyre off any rim with your hands if you do it like this.Adam
