montyrider07
Right, today my mate was thinkin about trying a gap to bar which we only just found this morning, he used tar on the bar to make it sticky because it was slightly sloped. And a thought came into my head, has anyone ever put tar on their tyre when doing something like that? maybe a stupid question but thought i would ask, Cheers Josh
STC
nope, I never put tar on my tyres.. only on rim or railsWhy put tar on your tyre? i mean like it ant going to do anything where off? lol tar on the rim and some on the rail not to much tar just one or two lines of tar on the rail but if you want to ride the rail a lot put a bit more tar on it when you go ride the rail just incase it rains because the tar will rub off it sometimes Edited March 10, 2007 by scunny_trials_rider
montyrider07
ye ye, tar the rail up. We did that, just the thought of putting it on the tyre came into my head and wonderd if anyone had ever tried it.
monty221pr
cant see it doing alot on your tyre plus would take loads of tar because you would have to cover your whole tyre to make sure the tar landed on the rail and it would also just wear off stupidly quick it is loads easier to just tar the rail and it definately helps now i have tried it i hate riding rails without it

Andeee
Yes i have used tar on rails espicially at skate park on the fun boxes as i do get good grip as the tar gets grip with the tread on your tyre. Andy

Andyi bet your really popular with skaters and bmxers if you put tar on their grind rails. i got an image of a skater trying to slide a rail and suddenly hitting a bit of tar and stopping dead. Greetings
Serves those bloody wax fetishists right! I've landed on my butt countless times because of waxed rails or walls! And no, I've never used tar on rails but it apparently helps. Going to get a delivery of Monty pine spray soon, will see if that works well on rails. Krisboats
I say leave the rails how they are... learn to ride them propely without a handicap and you'll be a better rider, if you continually tar them a day will come when you won't do a rail because you have no confidence to do it as its not tar'd.Don't be pussy's rails don't hurt unless their wet.... in which case tar wont help anyway.
