spode@thinkbikes
After not managing to find any definitive answers to this question, I e-mailed in. Thought you might want to see the responce.Dear AndrewMany thanks for your enquiry. The disciplines to be included for Cyclingin 2012 are yet to be determined by the UCI and the IOC. Once these havebeen confirmed the details will be publicised. In relation to your enquiry about non medal events, the IOC has notincluded 'demonstration' events in any Games since Atlanta.Best wishes, London 2012. -----Original Message-----From: spode@thinkbikes.com [mailto:spode@thinkbikes.com] Sent: 27 February 2007 16:17To: EnquiriesSubject: London 2012 - Contact Us CommentsName: Andrew MillerComments: Hi,I've heard rumours that Mountain Bike Trials (www.biketrials.com) willbe added in to the 2012 olympics. But I can't find evidence anywhere. Can you confirm if this is true or not? And if not, is it too late totalk to someone about having it added in as a non medal winning event? Thanks,Andrew Millerhttp://www.thinkbikes.comSo that's not a no... Tomm
Considering XC has only been in the Olympics for 10 years, I think the chances are slim.
spode@thinkbikes
Considering XC has only been in the Olympics for 10 years, I think the chances are slim.Well, if it's down to both of those committees to decide. Maybe we need to put a proposal there way?
Ash-Kennard
shame really, i know it wont be in there. it just isnt mainstream enough
2sixstreet
Considering XC has only been in the Olympics for 10 years, I think the chances are slim.BMX is being included isnt it? I think theres a good chance of seeing trials in the Olympics somewhere in the future.
joe b
I seriously doubt it will be in the Olympics; it is too small a sport for it to be included. I wish it wasn't, though .Cheers,Joe.
trialsguru
well trials has just as much chance as any other sport. the olympics is about non professional athletes (well, until they let sponsors in which goes against their own ideals... sell outs) so technically trials is an ideal sport for the olympics. Greetings
Is this funny sport where people ride freewheel-less bikes with no brakes and non-releasing SPDs around a track and have nasty accidents already in the olimpics?Trials has more of a chance than bmx in my opinion. Tomm
BMX is being included isnt it?From 2008, yeah. It's only BMX racing though.
Ben Cox
trials has gotta be more mainstream than running at a stick with a washing line prop!!!
spode@thinkbikes
trials has gotta be more mainstream than running at a stick with a washing line prop!!!Do they teach trials in schools? no.Do they teach pole vault in schools? yes.So I'd say it's more mainstream
Balman
as unreal as i think it would be to be a olimpic rider i think it would take the fun out of the sport and maybe get a bit to serious as great as i think it would be i still cant really see it happening as there's many other sports that could take over this chance instead how ever it would be good for the sport in the way it would be reconised and maybe have training grounds and parks built for us maybe not as much of a problem with street riding i mean bike road racing is in olimpic's now and no one seem's to give a monkeys about them flying past every were on the streets as its considerd "proper" trials could be considerd that if we are on t.v and have people watching enjoying and aproving of the sport.I hope it go's ahead but it dosent seem likely.Cheers Jack
paolo
Would be a bit borring if you ask me, not enough contries have really good riders... Anyhow, as a trials rider myself, I can't watch trials comp footage for more then 5 minutes...
