Ryan Blackwell
Hey people im curious as to weather a brake booster makes the brake lock anymore because ino it stops frame flex but im wondering were the extra power is converted into.Cheers
PaRtZ
Well as the magura slave power isn't being used to push the chain stays apart (because the booster stops the flex), more power goes onto the rim

Endohopper
Where's Mr. Heatsink's reply ? Wanna hear the ultra technical version and will continue to check back untill I read the phrase " finite element analysis . "
Al_Fel
its 6 of one and half a dosen of the other with a brake booster. On one hand it stiffens the brake up and stops the frame flexing but in doing that it makes the lever feel a lot harder. Walleee
The way I see it: Your wheel should be locked before your frame starts to flex.
liam-pantera
i think brake boosters are mint and i dont mind losing my squeak for loadsa power and if u run a smooth rim and zoo pads its still loud

Krisboats
on my bike the brake gets worse when i have a booster...Ha ha, seems to be the case for me too. My pads make an annoying swoosh noise and slip a bit, never used to back on 2 bolts... so i'm gonna try not running an echo booster tomorrow see if it makes a difference. 20inchsuperstar
i must have one of the stiffest back ends ever known to man, my zoo has all the funky braces on it to stiffen it up, and a fat arse echo control booster, i love it! made quite a bit of difference to me, everyones experience with boosters is different, some love, some loath. it happensmatt
MSM
Just a thought... Maybe some of the "my brake doesn't work as well after fitting a booster" people might not have the brake pad's setup quite as well as they were before fitting the booster. I found a big improvement whenever I fitted a booster to a rim brake setup, and I am a fair bit bigger than average, so my brakes have to work a lot harder than for most. An HS33 with a shimano carbon booster converted to 4 bolt fitment on an echo hifi frame with plasmatic CRMs worked extremely well, for a rim brake. will
if you hit a line and your brake slips, its a good sign that your body hasnt got enough extension. Do some stretches and get a better body position.
Walleee
if you hit a line and your brake slips, its a good sign that your body hasnt got enough extension. Do some stretches and get a better body position.what? Fair enough I can see where your coming from but body extension is one of the last thing's you think about when it comes to brakes slipping. If it is the case that your not making it high enough, your tyre would slip rather than your brake, because by your explanation, it wouldn't be the brake, rather the rider causing the problem'If your brake slips, you've got the back wheel onto the ledge,(it can't slip if it's not holding on something?) if your brake didn't slip you'd stay there unless like I said your tyres are shit. Ryan Blackwell
Ok so i tried to put my booster on and my pads wont go out far enough so there rubbing really badly and the wheel just locks but when i take the booster off the brakes have loads of room.Whats the deal with that?Cheers. Ryan.
looks like your going to need off-set brake mounts...i think tensile just brought some out
Token
yeah I'm using tensile off-set mounts, they're pretty good. Compensate for the silly wide 48mm wide echo rims.As for boosters making your brake worse, I can't really see how thats possible?
Ryan Blackwell
But thats what i dont get without the booster they fit so why dont they if i have the booster on.

But I stand by my previous comment. If you keep doing the same line eventually you will get it down. Your brake wont have improved, but because you've got used to doing the same line your body will at some point make the difference between sticking it and slipping it. See where I'm coming from? t However, thats not too say a good brake isnt important.
