Paypal Is Going To Totally Screw Me Over.

I sold a bmx wheel on ebay and apparently hasn't been recieved by the buyer. Since it's first class post i am unable to provide any sort of tracking number or whatever.

It has been like a month now since the guy paid for the wheel and he says he hasn't received it. So royal mail must have lost it. I have filled in a P85 form which i included my original receipt so they can find the lost wheel. BUT there is now a backlog on these of a month even though i was told a week last week.

The guy is now wanting to claim a refund which i promised upon the find of my wheel. Still no wheel though.

The annoying part. Paypal has told me i have to issue a refund by the 11th March. I have no money/ no job. Paypal tells me if i don't have the £30 in my paypal account they will charge me another £15. On top of that of being overdrawn on my bank account i will owe the bank £30+ i also will have no wheel to show for it.

So i am loosing out big time because of this stupid system and for all i know the guy could have my wheel as well.

Any ideas would be really helpfull as i am seriously angry with this.

I doubt any one knows him but his email is tombmx666@msn.com and his name is Tom Gerrard from East Sussex.

well for a start you can get your overdraft charge greatly reduced by writing a few letters to your bank, google it.

and if you have the reciept of posting first class than you can claim £32 (100 first class stamps value) maximum back.

but yeah was a good idea posting his email specially if someone on here knows him and kbnows he has just got a new wheel.

When will people learn?

Send it recorded!

Sorry, but if someone a bit cheeky received something first, they might try and rip you off - I couldn't do it as i'm too honest but it really is easy money.

Your right but it's just to damn expensive you know. Anyhow i don't think ill be selling on ebay again. Plus i haven't had any serious problems on here *touch wood*

recorded isn't much more, and it's worth it wouldn't you say?!?

Not much you can do mate, if it was the other way round, you'd want your money back...

Take a gulp and find the money, then don't do the same again.

It's 66p more - that's all. Special Delivery will rape you in the dark hole but RD is fine.

Good luck though (Y)

Log in to your bank account on the internet and cancel the direct debit agreement with paypal before they screw you? :P E-mail them after you've done it and tell them they've forced you into an unneccessary situation and that you've cancelled the direct debit because of it. If its been cancelled the bank won't accept it when they try and take money out.

I think the buyer has an option to delay it if he wants to, guess he just doesn't seem to want to. Tell him that you have no money in the account and that it won't help anyway, and that your sorting it out with the post office. He might be nice enough to delay it for a while.

Next time though, send it recorded delivery... i sent my wheel to hope the other day for a new ratchet, recorded delivery, and it cost £4 second class. It was going to be £7 first class.

Its 66p more for a standard letter, more if the item is a parcel/large letter etc.

As for the topic, like many have said..send it recorded in future, the extra 5er saves you losing £30, which looks like it may happen in this case.

But anyhow your all right and i ain't even going to bother with ebay any more plus i will use recorded from now on. After i phoned Royal Mail again they soon sent me a cheque for £32 even though i have no wheel to show for it. I guess i didn't loose anything in the end it cost pretty much nothing in the first place. It's just one of those annoying things like punctures.

as a postman - I would say that recorded delivery is a complete waste of time (for big parcels at least)..... no real extra protection (for reasons i wont go into).

you are better off going standard parcel and making sure that youve got the value of the item covered - additional cover is cheaper than going recorded.

special deliverys are great for pretty much totally safe sending - but they cost alot more because of the extra processing - but if you want the best .....

EDIT : ALWAYS PUT A RETURN ADDRESS ON ANYTHING YOU SEND EVEN - LETTERS

The sorting office here just steal everything that goes through there, basically, so after having 3 letters sent recorded delivery disappear we spoke to Royal Mail who basically told us to f**k off. My Mum gave them a call and it pretty much went along the lines of

"We've sent these latest 3 letters recorded delivery, is there any way you could find out what's happened to them?"

"Do you have the tracking number?"

"Yes - *Gives tracking number*"

"OK, well, it hasn't attempted to be delivered yet."

"So you don't know where it is?"

"Try searching on the website."

"But that's the same tracking system and comes up with the same answer."

"Send it Special Delivery next time", followed by them pretty much saying "Recorded is shit, don't even bother doing it."

If I'm lucky enough to actually have my mail or parcels reach me, it'll have been torn open and f**ked around with. It's a f**king joke, if this sort of shit happened in any other occupation or public service, there'd be a huge out-cry about it, but Royal Mail continue to let it happen.

Can't you actually take them to court for that? Its illegal to open someone elses post and the royal mail is being negligent in letting it happen... i would imagine that'd be a pretty good case, shame its a load of hassle though :(
