ftw
Hi, Recently I have been suffering back pains. I do not know if it is the stem I am using, which is a Monty 221 ti carbon effect one on a Zoo! python frame. As the monty stem is quite long and low, I was just wondering if anybody else has suffered this before, or is it just me?Do I need to get a higher stem for example. The Echo team one, or one of the onza ones,as these are a bit higher. If anybody is riding a Zoo! python short frame on here, and has a stem they recomend please will you let me know. As I do not want to be going spending £35-£40 on a new stem and it will not make much of a difference, it is a waste of money. Also if I get a lower stem will it make my side hopping a touch bettter? This is one of my weak things in trials.Help is appreciated. Thanks Ross. Edited March 5, 2007 by ftw

TAWT
Hey,I used to suffer from chronic back pains when riding, I tried changing loads of stuff and nothing healed it......then my Doctor told me how you're back and Abdominal muscles work as an antagonistic pair (or something like that!!!) so if your Abs are weak your back will be doing all the work and causing pain....You dont have to have a six pack or anything just try doing sit ups a few times a week and see if it helps...Toodles,Ian

!Billy_BOY!
Hey mate,i don't no how i did my back or what Ive done to it but my back hurts everyday now riding or not. I'm riding a Monty pr with a echo team stem, I'm swapping this for a pr stem and getting the new Monty bars.I'm not sure if thats what the problem is but i hope it helps me, I'm going hospital next week to find out the problem.i had a zoo short frame as well and i used a echo team stem on that, my back wasn't hurting then but I'm not sure if it was because of the set up.hope this helps. (and i hope my back don't die lol) Billy..
max-t
have you been riding long?it might just be because your not used to being in that position for a long time and your back muscles havent adapted to the constantposition they must hold.It may be your posture is bad, or as mentioned earlier it could also be the fact that your stem could be too low.Max..
