Petrum
Well basically i used to ride bmx, but gave it up and now wanna get back into it, while riding trials as well. Since im 6ft5, i feel crammed on a 20" bmx, so i was looking at 24" bmx cruisers. Since a lot of people here ride bmx, does anyone know what the 24" bmx are like compared to normal bmx? especially regarding size? Are they a lot bigger than normal bmx? I ride a t-raptor atm, which i seem to fit on pretty well, so you guys think a 24" bmx would fit me allright?i was looking at these:http://www.ridebmxmag.co.uk/bikes/federalfunction2.html orhttp://www.pervbmx.co.uk/bikes/lewdtwofour.htmlany ideas/comments/opinions? would be appreciatedmfg, Peter

poopipe
stick with the bmx - that thing is probably a piece of shit, most mtbs are. you can do tricks on a 24" bmx fine it'll just be less whippy and spinny than a 20" . if you look very close you can see steven hamilton doing an opposite curved wallride to 180 on a 24" federal in one of the animal videos. personally I'd say get yourself a long 20" bmx - there's a couple of fairly low budget complete bikes with 21" toptubes nut to get anything longer you'd need to get the frame seperate (mutiny eden comes in 21.5", i think there's still a 22" acniel and a number of race frames are really long). I think Spangler on here rides ridiculously long frames so he might be a good person to askedit :I'm semi-tempted by the federal myself - as a third commuter bike obviously. just needs the brakes taking off and it'd be excellent. There's not a lot to choose between that and the perv as far as I can see - except that the federal looks nicer and I know for a fact that federal make solid enough frames (never owned a perv so can't say) Edited March 4, 2007 by poopipe
guineasmithpig
Perv gets my votehad a look through the DK range? a few of their's were recommended to me when i was thinkin of gettin a cruiser for dirt. have since quit trials so went for a 'proper' dirt/park/street mrb, with 26in wheels and everythin Smithy
modman
24" BMX Cruisers are well fun!!! Had one a few years ago and they are soo cool if you like your easy going riding and jumping, great for flowing through skateparks and dirt trails, yeah they are abit harder to do spinny tricks but if that doesnt bother you then they'll be fine. poopipe
the DKs are all aluminium I think - the cheap ones certainly are. I wouldn't be riding ramps on those even if I didnt value my teeth.
Captain Scarlet
My mate had/has a GT 24" styled cruiser, and I guess its almost in the realm of jump bikes.I guess for smooth jumping and things it will do you fine, but when it comes to spinny and whippy tricks, then your best off with a standard BMX. Petrum
DK General Lee 24" is a f**king bargain for the money. All chromo too.i think im gonna go with that one for now. Its cheap and the 2007 range looks like DK thought about what they doing. Judging by the components the bike is going to last for a while, and at 14.1 kg its not a brick either! But thanks guys for all your comments! RobinJI
I don't know what there 24s are like but I know one of my mates nearly cracked the rear end off his 8 pack in just under a year of park riding, and he's a pretty light smooth rider. One chainstay was cracked 3/4 of the way around and the other about 1/3-1/2. They were good about the warenty though. Not sure how similar the frames are in construction, but the chainstay wishbone on the genral lee 24" cirtainly looks similar to his.Personaly I much prefer the handling of 24" mtbs, but the price off BMX's is sooo much better.
