Removing A D-lock - Urgent

hey guys, i have real problem which i need to get sorted tonight. basically i d-locked my bike up. when i come back to it there is now a second d-lock on it. i'm pretty sure it is because the person who put the d-lock on has every intention of coming back tonight to nick it, or at least nick everything off of it! so what do i do? how can i cut off their d-lock? i was thinking of just stripping it right back so only the frame is left and then putting some more locks on it so hopefully it will last till the morning. i would angle grind it off but it is not at home so have no electric. any help is as ever much appreciated. steve

first

haaahahaaa!!

second.

depending on the lock you might be able to lever it apart if you slip a length of scaffolding pole over the end and yank it really hard - it works almost instantly on shit ones. otherwise you'll be needing a grinder.

don't forget to take the key for your lock with you or you'll be asked to accompany the nice man inthe blue suit to the police station to answer some awkward questions

hey bud try this, either get some bolt croppers off a mate or if you have some or...this is gona sound crazy but does work: get a car jack put it between the lock, keep jakin it up and up as hard as you can-eventually bang the lock will break. cheers-Hugh

oww and once you have jacked it right up give it a heft smack with a hammer. cheers-hugh

HHS - Hire Something Sharp, bolt cutters (f**k off big arse ones) or a petrol angle grinder. Pick lock (can be made in a couple of mins, youtube 'how to make a pick lock' and there should be a tutorial 21 mins long, watch it, make one and do some tootin' pickin'. Hammer - twat the f**k out of it. Hacksaw. fat 10 metre long chain + tow bar on a car + (VERY heavy duty)pad lock (padlock chain to d lock, chain to tow bar and give it some mother f**king revs. What's it d locked to? What part of the bike?

sledge hammer and chisel you hit the side which locks and the pin snaps it works on big padlocks so it should work for you or hire a battery powered grinder and cut it off

no offence but you'd have to be pretty f**king immense with a sledge hammer to hit a d-lock that's around your bike without royally f**king it over in some way.

how'd it go anyway? i wonder if the dude's in jail.

it wasn't there when i got back. i am so gutted.

just kidding. no problem. i am defo investing in a new lock! it was too easy. simply stuck a scissor jack from my missus truck in there and with next to no effort (it was more effort to jack the car up!) pop. job done. no-one even said anything or even looked. even scarier it took about a minute so someone could have easily been doing it to my lock and got away with it. i must have looked dodgey has hell!!

cheers for the advice folks, all worked out good in the end. kryptonite here i come...

:o

Can you imagine the look one their face when they come back and you've managed to rip their d-lock into pieces

I wonder if they were planning on going to the police station themselves and saying it was you who'd put your lock on their bike? That'd be the cheekiest bike theft ever... get the police to steal it for you :-

Get an angle grinder, a 12v - 230v inverter, an extension lead and a mate with a car.

Park up as close as possible to your bike, plug the inverter in the fag socket with the engine running, wind out the extension lead, plug in the grinder with a cutting disk and cut that lock off.

Sounds a little schoolboy, but its probably the way I would actually do it if it was my bike.

Actually there's a vid up on the net where some guys in new york lock their bike to poles and then "steal" it in various ways to see how the public reacts.

They did in fact use an angle grinder on one occasion, connected it to a traffic lights box or something similar, put all the safety gear on (gloves, goggles) and cut the lock open. Nobody took interest in what was happening.

people can be so dum sometimes just because there wearing safety clothes doesn't mean they should be there!

a guy i know dressed up as a builder and drove away in a jcb lol, dress up as a tree surgeon and cut every treedown in the local park ! :shifty:

super glue there key hole so that cant nick it either.

car jack it.

and just take a grinder and extension lead, and explain to the nerest shop /elecy source, and plug in there.

good luck

and let us know !!

i LIKE IT !!

might try that !

haha

a mate of mine once put a big ass D lock round a spoke on a massive BMW SUV alloy wheel.

they set off with out realising :o , it mangled the wheel loads and bashed big dents/scratches into the wheelarch.

HOHOHO !!
