plainlazy84
Cheers for that Mike kept me entertained last night on my ipod when I was walking to a mates house. Think I've listened to 40-50mins of it now. I know absolutely nothing about mixing or house music so I wouldn't know what I was talking about if I tried to give your mix a critique As a casual listener though I've got to say I was really impressed! I enjoyed a lot of the music and the mixing all seemed to fit in really nicely and there was never a time when two tracks seemed to clash with each other.I go clubbing fairly often in Brighton (Honey Club, The Beach, Audio etc) but most times I'm too battered to take real notice of the music A few questions....Whats the name of the track playing at around 35mins ? Whats the difference between the various types of house music? I mean, dirty house, funky house, tech house I quite like that track Exceeder by Mason- what category does that fall under? The new one with vocals, maybe falls under cheese? Not really into house that much so not really sure on the sub-genresAlso, anyone wanted to start but is on a tight budget, I would say go for CDJ 100s or the 200's, I picked some 100's up with a Pioneer mixer second hand for about £350 a few weeks ago Really nice set aswell, smooth mixing and a cool tracklistThe song at 35mins is DJ Delicious & Till West - Same Man, not sure which mix Edited March 1, 2007 by SamHolmes

What do you use/not use? Would be nicer to hear it from someone, as opposed to a spec online

Would be nicer to hear it from someone, as opposed to a spec onlineWell they're pretty basic but good enough for learning on, they come with 3 effects aswell which can be controlled with the jog wheelAlso they are slot in players which is alot easier and quicker than having a to open draw to load a CD each timeNot really much else to say about them, if used with a Pioneer mixer you can use fader start aswell where moving the up fader or the cross fader will play the cd but I dont use this anywayAlot of people would recommend them for beginner players
MadManMike
Yeah the basic CDJ's are good for beginners... Still saving for 1000 Mk3's at the moment - don't have £1,500 to spare though I use the Denon DNS1000's they are nice, mid priced at about £650 a pair - well worth it.I'd not advise cheap products. Avoid Stanton, avoid Numark and a few others...Denon / Technics / Pioneer are pretty much the top 3 manufacturers. Thanks for the comments on the mix, glad you all like it Mason - Exceeder is electro house, though it's verging on pop now...If you like this music, and want to mix, look for the following artists:Chris LakeThomas SchumacherTomas AnderssonMartijn Ten VeldenMatthius SchaufhauserSebastien LegerTrentemollerMeat KatieJames Zabielaloads more.... MadManMike
My older one was more Funky House though to be honest, i'm much more into dirty electro now!I still mix all that, but my mixes are definately slightly heavier now.The actual mixing is much better in this latest one

Seen as its pretty much on your doorstop and its one of the clubbing capitals of the UK. Theres so many clubs down here its unreal also, where can I download your first promo mix?
