The left foot forward is for power, not precision, that's why you use your right to bring the front wheel up when backwheeling.OH, and regardlessof what you think about your trousers and how big they are, keep every single pair tucked in, otherwise you'll find you'll rip every single pair you put on, even if they do hug your ankles,,,,,still not sure how I ripped my new tight fit jeans up to the knee but it happend, so just keep your mum happy and keep your trousers in
MeanHeart
just keep your mum happy and keep your trousers in I was almost certain that said "keep it tucked in your trousers, and your mum happy"Both are good advice though Well yeh i have a few little rips, but im more worried about riping my shins than the trousers ... skin grows back
tryalltom
This might sound a bit wierd but when im hopping on the back wheel i lean forward and kind of look over the handlebars heres a pic hope it helps. MeanHeart
I know its an old thread now but i thought it was beter to add to this rather than start a new one. When trying to stabilize yourself on the back wheel, how do you pull the break, im finding myself griping the grips with three fingers and using my index finger on the break, but it seems to be giving me blisters ... how do you do it, when i try and use all fingers on the break i cant get enouth leaverage to keep the front wheel up Edited February 20, 2007 by MeanHeart

Do you wear gloves? They might help.

moto_psycho
Personally I would ignore all of this advice completely! Dont focus so much on what you are doing, just try, seriously! When I was 1st learning backhops (literally about 2/3 weeks ago) I was trying so hard to "get it right" but there is no need, once you know the basic principle, the rest is in your body, it gradually learns the best way to control it. Deep concentration on how you arnt gripping hard enough with your left hand will just throw you off!IMHO anyway! Just relax and keep trying, and eventually it will come! This might sound a bit wierd but when im hopping on the back wheel i lean forward and kind of look over the handlebars heres a pic hope it helps. Samgotta say, if I was in that position, I'd be looking where I was going aswell!!
