STEVE-0
Everyone finds my gear really stiff and just done a search and found loads of people have it well easy....My theory was - surely it you could get used to a stiff gear you could go bigger, more power. I can sidehop bigger, tap higher etc.Although for comps i do use 18:15 because the extra torque helps on those muddy slopes. I always wondered why people could get such small run ups.Just interesting really....so....anyone the same as meretarded :$ Steve
Orgun_Donor
I used to run 18:12 then i changed to 18:13. But then i made a huge leap to 18:16 and would never change again.

Ben Cox
i thought your gearing felt quite nice, shame your brake was frozen solid eh?
Greetings
18/17 the heaviest i rode was 22/18 (under 18/15) and it wasn't that bad. good for gaps
Christophe'
nope i run 22/17 which is a slightly higher ratio unless im being a tard? I ran that for years and years, it was the original choice i think.Im 20 /15 now but with ickler wheels.Just use thishttp://www.sheldonbrown.com/gears/set the gear units to inches,,,thats how far u will travel given your wheel size and gearing,But at the end of the day u need to try some different ones to see what feels best , then use the above calculator for informed tweaks.Im going 32 inches per crank rev.steve-o your going 31.1 ish( cant tell for sure , dont know your crank lenght and actual tire diameter).Based on that i wouldnt say that your gear is that hard to pedal at all. James Quigley
Harder gearing can give more power, but not as 'explosive' you'd have to have some beasty legs for it to make you gap further, imo.
F-Stop Junkie
I think this might just be the stiffest gear ever...
Fish-Finger-er
i used to ride 22-13, then got told on a worcester ride it was too stiff, so went to 22-14. which is how it stayed till i got the bt, which was 18-14. i then changed to 18-16 when i got my king, now at 18-15. but will soon be dropping it back down to 18-14.as it just feels more streety. The Foamoi Refresher
ive been riding a 25:16 gear ratio for quite some time, maybe about two years, harder gear is well more fun, for rolling gaps, and some real street ridingluisio
ZeroMatt
I ran 22:15 for a while, could go pretty big but chains kept snapping even the suposedly super strong khe and kmc chain.
