yeah theyve got camera's but i've been away for a week and only just found out.

i did have it my room but got boll**ked severals times for keepin it in there, so in the end was easier to have it locked up in the bike lock up, which is inside the halls.

meh, hopefully find it or get some money for a new one.

Balls, Does that mean they don't have the footage anymore?

Keep a good lookout. I had 2 bikes nicked at the same time, and I got one back when a group of mates saw some twat riding it and just demanded it back.

I'd be surprised if there wasn't any insurance covering it, as is was actually inside the hall.

Oh my god that's absoutley shite! i'd be straight down to whoever gave you the bollocking asking them what they are going to do about the theft. I really wouldn't settle for bullshit excuses, if they are going to force people to keep their bikes in that area, surley they have to provide secure storage???

Is it possible to get insurance to cover this sort of thing specifically?

yeah im hoping it'll turn up, wanna go ride!!! hopefully the footage will still be about. bit gay but meh what can you do??

might be covered under my household policy...i hope

doubt the halls will have any cover whats so ever, not their responsibility unfortunately, although the the swipe card lock to the lock up is broken.....

Shit man, thats harsh......

What halls are you in? are you in the same ones that prawn used to be in? if so you may be able to get some money by saying that they should have got better security etc on the place after having a bike stolen from there before.....

well, if the lock to the compound was broken, then surely they're at fault for not fixing it immediately? i'd go mental!

i used to keep by bike/s in my room in halls. was a right hassle gettin them up 3 flights of stairs, and i ALWAYS used to get bollocked everytime there was a flat inspection. but i just kept ignorin them. theres no way i'd leave a bike worth anymore than £50 outside ever. all mine stay in my room in my shared house, which is on the second floor. again, its a hassle but far easier than paying for a whole new bike!

anyways, get on the case and give them trouble. ask for the insurance policy regarding tenants property, and see if theres anything on your contract. it'll probably say they have to provide reasonable security, like the bike lock up compounds, and if they've been left in disrepair, then they aren't full filling that agreement. if you don't know what you're looking for, send a copy over as my missus has just finished a law degree, and we hardly pay any fines or surcharges, because she always finds something to complain about in an agreement! Don't let them get away with it, they treat us students shit enough as it is!

f**king A! It pisses me off that modern universities seem to see students solely as a source of revenue, and in instances like this were they blatantly are not caring enough about the students once they have got them through their doors they should have their arses kicked! In the real world if you were dissatisfied with a service provider you would just leave, but with universities, because you cant leave they are lax. Security looks good but is shit, administration is pants, buildings look great but are too few for the over subscribed courses! Whenever you can, kick arse, and make the f**kers provide a decent service!

right, rant over.

cheers mate im gonna take some photos of the fact the inside lock for the bike lockup is broken, so once your inside the halls anyone can get in there. i was thinking that even if i had the bike insured it would have to be in a secure locked enviroment, which the bike lock up should have been, but isnt..... because the lock is broken.

cheers for you help lads

Shit, I'm not looking forward to bike storage if I get into Aston in Brum... Gunna be a nightmare, epecially if I'm any higher than 3rd/4th floor in the halls haha

I've always said I was gunna spend a good £100 on locks before I go no matter where my bike is gunna be.

Hope you get your bike back, I know how gutted you feel. Wish I could get my Coiler Dee-Lux back :(
