Fixed Pants™
Well basically, it keep (Not Responding) to every f**king thing i do! It's being mega slow and basically not working.Anyone know what's up?f**kING CUNTING SHIT f**k WANK f**kING DICK HEAD COMPUTER.Seriously pissed off with it.Also, over the past week or two, it's been coming up with a windows error message sound, i can't see the message, i think it's being displayed in the login screen. Had an un identified process called r1.exe that I'm pretty sure it's related to, when i get the problem I can't open any new windows or right click anything so it's basically a dead comp but I've deleted that through Winpatrol. Also have 7 svchost.exe's running, which is strange, i know it's not spyware or anything, it's got something to do with Windows, but surely there shouldn't be 7 of them. When i try to terminate any of them it makes my comp shutdown after seeing the 60 seconds message.(I'm quite good with comps but I'm stuck with this)
PaRtZ
foooook thats a lot of processesstart>run>msconfigthat will allow you to turn off any un wanted things like them. Fixed Pants™
I know there's rather a few processes going, but they all seem quite nessescary. (i've also had quite a few processes since i can remember, pretty much since i've had the comp)And i've cut down the processes quite a lot though msconfig and WinPatrol. Reece B
f**k me 49 processes woah i normally only have 20, i have 2gb of ram as well. like if u have less thats going to kill the pc
Fixed Pants™
Cheers for that Lee, but that's not the same process (i think) Mines 'svchost.exe'The shut down thing is if i terminate the program it says something along the lines of 'you have ended a critical process and the workstation needs to shutdown' then it shuts its self down in 60 seconds. Pretty sure it's not a virus (i hope).I don't think number of processes if a factor of this. Any 1337's wanna remote assistance me and sort out this ammount of process problem type thingy? Reece B
normally u should only have one of each svhost.exe.
Lee Cable
yea, wen it goes to shutdown in 30 seconds, type shutdown -a in the run box, and it wont do it then nice user name aswell? Glen the Best?

Danny
Having multiple svchost.exe processes is perfectly fine. If all else fails do a nice fresh reformat. That will see you some extra speed.Alternatively post a screenshot of your Start>Run>Msconfig>Startup tab and ill tell you what you can disable. Can i get one for free?Need to keep quite a few things too, 9GB of music, about 5 GB of vids, pics, homework/coursework and other misc files. Along with programs.Mr pipe - Downloaded a few vids from torrents, none from limewire lately, music yeah, but that doesn't normally have spyware? Porn, i haven't been on any for a while. Krisboats
I'd reformat but PC World is gay and doesn't want to give you the windows XP disk? Can i get one for free?Don't they need to give you a re-install disk or a windows disc when you bought the computer? Theres no "free" ones though Unlucky on having mcshitefee, if you do re-install use a comodo firewall and avg 7.5, only 2-3 taskes running between them and loads better than the corporate shite like norton mcaffee etc.Have you tried scanning the computer with something like adaware, xoftspy, bugdoctor? Fixed Pants™
I agree - McAfee is shite. But AVG is even shiter IMO.Last night I scanned my comp with SpyBot. Currently scanning with SpySweeper. Tried to scan with Ad-Aware earlier but that froze up and f**ked up.

Danny
I'd reformat but PC World is gay and doesn't want to give you the windows XP disk? Can i get one for free?If its a brand name pc (which it probably will be being from pc world) it will come with a 'recovery' cd which will put your computer back to what it was when you bought it. I also noticed your using mcaffee antivirus. Try nod32 instead.Id totally remove all your norton programs (since norton is the devil)All the ones marked red should be fine to disable.
