Krisboats
Well my hope just died. Did a little gap in my garden and as soon as i put the force in to gap it went BANG! So i eventually got the damn freehub shell off after slicing my finger on a sprocket and it looks like i've destroyed the ratchet ring, theres little bits of it everywhere and one of the springs is gone. What do i need to do about getting it fixed and does anybody have any idea how much it'll cost me to fix it. If its too much i'll just get a pro II as its my birthday in 4 weeks. However, if i could get this one repaired and sold it'd make the new wheel a lot cheaper. Tylerlovesalex
Send it back to hope, they usually do it for free if you got a proof of percheswhat hope is it?? they have like 10 year warranty on them.
CurtisRider
proof of percheshes not a birdhope may charge for the hub to be repaired, its about 40quid now i think, best thing to do is contact them, but yeah a proof of purchase would be handy if its within warranty

Krisboats
It was second hand and i've had it like 10 months now anyway. Guess i'm gonna be forking out £40. Unless they decide to replace my bearings, springs pawls and freehub body as well

Unless they decide to replace my bearings, springs pawls and freehub body as well i think they replace everything that suffers from wear: bearings, ring, pawls, springs, maybe you could persuade them to just fit a new ratchet ring? trouble is, if your ratchet ring has actually broken into pieces, it may have damaged the threads in which the ring screws into, which renders your hub shell useless too...unless they will do it free, i wouldn't bother, secondhand mono/xcs are so cheap now, and if you can afford a pro 2, this is the perfect opportunity to get one, cos they really do rock
Waynio
they will do the freehub, bearings, pawls and springs all in with the £40.00 thats what they usually do anyway. has the ratchet ring stripped? as in stripped the alloy hub shell too? if so they will send you a hub to re-build. send it back so they can see whats wrong with it, then they will do what ever is required.Waynio........................ Krisboats
As far as i can tell i've jsut stripped the teeth from the ratchet ring... they're all crumbled and snapped inside. I can't really tell if the ratchets stripped from the hubshell but it seems fairly solid in there.i dought it very much somehow.I didn't mean £40 for all that... i meant £40 to fix it, unless they do everything... which i presume will hike the price up. Onza Kieron
I dont think I even rang, I just put a note in with the wheel with contact number and reurn address, they are fairly the most caring company in my books. WELL DONE HOPE
Krisboats
Right well i haven't got enough money in the bank at the minute to pay them. I've had a look and cleaned it out and got a replacement spring.Seems only 1 of the ratchet teeth has been sheared off. I've taken the broken bits of ratchet out.... you reckon it'll be okay to ride on still until i get some money in the bank. It doesn't SEEM to mind me riding on it at the minute. Onza Kieron
I cant see why it should go wrong any more but remember that if it has already spat a tooth out, it will likely do it again, in which you might not be as lucky. matt rushton
How far do you live away from barnolswick ( where hope is) because if you can get there they will do it for free. Also i can't see you needing proof of purchase, because it will have had to come out of the hope factory and they say the date on them. If not then just give them a ring. I'm not sure what there like when it comes to sending them sthuff through the post but i know there good when you take things to the factory.Matt Rushton
Krisboats
I rang him, he said stick it in a box and send it off to the repairs and warranties place with my phone number and address on a piece of paper inside. That was all he said.
Onza Kieron
Do it? or do what Matt said, either is good and I can't really see them charging more than what I paid, just stress that you ONLY want the ring replacing, even if you make up that you had bought all the other parts seperate...
