modman
Hey Guys and Girls,At the moment i own a Koxx XTP 20" frame, i like the way it rides very much but im just wondering, when i go to college in september im not going to be able to spend like near £600 on another if i ever snap (prays to God i don't) so i've been looking at some cheaper alternatives and one being the Monty 221 pr.Just wanting to know what the frame is like in terms of strength, ridability and how it compares to the XTP.Looking forward to your comments.Cheers,Jake
ogre
search? i've riden neither but imagine they're really different the koxx being uber long and montys being short.if your wanting something mega strong go for a deng frame (echo/zoo/gu) there all mega strong Edited February 4, 2007 by ogre
modman
The short version of both Monty and koxx frames are the same length i believe. Don't really like any of the deng products really, just cant see the need to have lots of different named bike frames but all made by the same person, sounds abit like the Halfords of Trials haha! The Montys appeal alot though, They've been going since the start of BikeTrials and still to this day in my opinion make the best Trials frames out there.....And they paint their frames too so they actually look good

that NBR dude
Theres not a lot in it really. I think my XTP felt that little bit lighter, and a bit easier on the back wheel, but then my monty flicks around a bit better and feels a bit easier to backwheel and sidehop. Like I say, there isnt a great deal between them, so in the unfortunate event that you do crack the XTP, the Monty would be a suitable substitute. Gavyn.
echo lite? they seem quite similar, any way had a monty and have a had a fair few shots of an xtp and there is a whole world of difference, imo they ride like complete opposites. the xtp feels much flickyer and the monty feels more stable and lower
omgnoseat
@people saying that theres a big difference between the xtp and the monty:Did they both have the same set up, stem rise, bar angle etc?that can make a big differenceI think that a short xtp and a monty should feel quite similair with the same setup
Gavyn.
set up was quite similar but i clearly didn't know what sort of angles the dude was riding
